"PLEASE EXCUSE ALL NON-TECHNICAL DESCRIPTIONS IN THE NEXT TEXT":smt053

After a Kwak style cleaning session on Saturday (2.5 hours). I noticed that a bracket/clip thing on the exhaust had corroded and was actually no longer doing anything.

The corroded part was the first bracket/clip on the exhaust and was possibly holding the front pipe to the rear? I don't think it is connected to anything else, but is loose.

The clip thing is about 12-15mm wide and goes all round the pipe and has a 10ish mm nut on it.

I have probably corroded it with too much autosol!!! ;)

Anyway my questions are these:

1. What is it called?
2. What is it for?
3. Can I buy a replacement on its own?
4. How much is one likely to cost?
5. Can it be fitted easily, without having to take the exhaust of etc.?

Thanks.

sounds like its just a clamp (jubalee clip), & can be picked up from most shops

Hovis thanks - it's like a jubilee clip only bigger.

its called a hose clip.. or jubilee clip..

make sure you get a stainless steel one.. measure the circumference of the pipe its going on..

it will prob have a 10mm nut on .. just open it up.. clip it round the pipe and tighten up to ... as tight as you can !..

they are £2.80 to £3....

you can get thinner ones at car dealers and B and Q.. but lots are not stainless steel.. .. e bay you have to buy packs of 5..

Had the same thing on my Curvy and, to be honest, it more than likely isn't required now, unless or until you move the exhaust system.

All sorted now, my local dealer had one that did the job perfectly £3.53 and I even managed to fit it myself. It might not sound much but to me that is a technical achievement.

We all had to start somewhere. Give yourself a pat on the back:smt023

did you make sure you did it neatly with the nut on the blind side of the exhaust-

Yes - I even managed that.

Mind you I had to re-fit it for this effect. I've now even managed to fit some clear indy's on the bike.

Might need some help with a tail tidy though.
