They do it at a lot of RAF Bases. Usually cheap as well.

I am currently right at in the begining stages of trying to sort out a track day on the Military Airfield where i live for the Org.

Obviously subject to interest that is!

I'd go, I'm sure a few others from SW&W would go too.

Hope so as i am intending to build my case on the fact that it will be for .Org members. Wont be till next year as the Airfield (Colerne nr Chips n ham ) is fully booked till then. But i am hoping to get a few of us to have the whole airfiels to ourselves. i will have to look into insurances and med cover first, see what they require of us in that respect. But i am hoping it would pretty much be a free to do what you want day.

Colerne is an ex RAF base, now an Army signals base if I remember correctly, but they keep a AEF there.. so have a few prop trainer aircraft and such that they take cadets and UAS members up in... flown from there 2 times, and got to do loops over the severn bridge, and practice stall recovery.. which was rather boring in a bulldog....

pitty StAthan is no longer RAF, you could have tried it on against Tornados, Jaguars, and various Harriers!
Youd probably find you would beat most up to 60, but after that you would be toast! quite literaly if you got too close! the only one you'd struggle with is the Harrier.... being as its the one with the highest thrust to weight....

Correct it is indeed home to 21 Sig regt, andthe Airstrip is still used by BUAS (Bristol Univirsity Air Squadron). But the Run way and approach roads are still avalible to private hire. It is very busy all summer with quite a lot of car and bike events taking place on it.

And St Athan is still military , it will be housing the Comms training regiments in the future as well as being home to some other's

As it seems there's loads of RAF bods on here. I'm up at RAF Boulmer at the moment which seems to be nowhere near any rideouts which is a pity given the roads around here.
