for all you transformers fans, i won an optimus prime off ebay for my son because he's optimus prime mad, thing is i know OP is a truck that turns into the robot but this one ive won is a fire engine? in the first gen transformers in the 80's OP was a truck and a trailer but in the new version he's just a truck? this one ive won is from 2001 so it say's? have a look here -

That's really wierd, I remember OP quite vividly as a tractor/trailer truck thingy. I remember him being a lot more blue than the red fire engines in the wikipedia article too.
Very strange, perhaps beer really does destroy brain cells :D

kwak, the way i understand it is there a few generations of transformers toys, which coincided with different generations of the cartoon series.
The Optimus Prime most of us probably remember having as a toy (and the one I had as a kid) was the 1st generation, which was a tractor/trailer unit like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/TRANSFORMERS-1984-G1-OPTIMUS-PRIME-AUTOBOT-LEADER-L-K_W0QQitemZ280141065907QQihZ018QQcategoryZ4696QQtc ZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).
Reading a bit further on Wikipedia, the one you've bought looks like the one here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimus_Prime_%28Robots_in_Disguise%29) which was from a next-generation series of transformers imprted to the US from Japan.

My son was playing with his Toy fire engine today saying "Autobots to the rescue", I said "I thought OP was a truck" to which he said "OP is a fire engine on the cartoons on Jetix at the moment"

Cant they turn into anything they touch ....prolly totally wrong but thats how it was explained to me by two youngsters at the w/e (one was 25 , the other 8 8)

Was the one questionable bit of the movie for me.
I can see them scanning a vehicle then using that form.
However if they can change as much as they want, it kind of gets silly.
Mind you I read they were going to put Arcee (R-See) in it, but it got canned as "she" is a female autobot - the argument being why would robots need genders, but its fairly obvious that the rest are male due to voicing etc.
Aparently she was going to be one of these in vehicle form.

optimus arrived in top condition (new) and now my son it taking it to pieces? seems a litte difficult for a 4 year old but still he likes it:)

Just been informed by my son (who is Transformer mad)yes OP was a fire engine in Transf/robots in disguise,in 2001.Before this there was Transf/Gen1,Transf/Gen2,Transf/powermasters,Beast wars,(OP was Optimus Primal in this)Beast machines(primal again)Robots in disguise,Transf/armada,Transf/energon,Transf/Alternators,Transf/Classics.Then the new movie.Hope this helps and is all correct.Sure someone will tell us if we are wrong.:smt067

I read the comics religiously, there were loads of follow-ons, well OK, cash-ins after The Movie, every single one of which seemed to include him being all prideful and arrogant, then losing the matrix and turning back into hot rod, then getting an absolute shoeing. How we laughed. Great comics though.
See, I collected the Energon and Armada 9I think) comics for a bit, but gave up coz they got quite confusing. A lot of the robots looked the same, and having 2 monthly titles with the same characters lost me a bit.
Then again, I got all 4 spider-man titles for a while and managed to keep up, so who knows...
