Had a quick blast on one (on a private road) on the Isle of Man so heres a quick review;

Looks; very personal but it looks very aggressive and "different" to me :D
Comfort; None; very race-rep riding position with a lot of weight on the wrists
Feel; everything looks and feels very well put together, the levers are all perfectly finished, the switchgear looks precisely made and just works.
Gadgets; the computer is very fancy, loads of programmable stuff and the clocks look really cool.
Handling; Whoa! So easy, very confidence inspiring stability and "sharpness," somebody with more experience than me may think differently but I was definately glad to have a steering damper on it.
Best till last:
Engine; Dear god!

In conclusion, I want one!

Chris

it's probably cheaper to buy some moose you already hate a house and be done with it than go through a messy divorce

More than likely to do with handling but I'm suprise you would get a 180 on a 160 rim within regular tolerances!!!

One of the common mod's on the 955 is to put a 180 as opposed to the 190 standard tyre as it is supposed to aid the bike in turning in quicker. I've always left the 190 on mine cos I think it looks better and I'm a big possey tart.

I'm not keen myself. Just doesn't do it for me and looks a bit fussy. But each to their own huh. Heard a few stories about them going pop. THey are meant to be heavy on the oil usage. There is a triumph dealer near me and they have a couple of demo bikes in their fleet. They are already showing some signs of furring up in fasteners and the engine block. You'd have to keep on top of the cleaning regime.

120hp at the crank, quite hard to have gs500 reliability at that power!

The exhaust note is really wierd, kinda whistles at low revs but when you nail it, it really snarls in that tripley way; very nice :D

I'm getting mine on Monday morning! Funny you should say whistley cos that's what I thought but I've never even ridden a sports four and thought it must be par for the triple engine. Can't wait. I will miss the SV but for a sunny day bike and trackdays I think this will fit better (Plus I like shiny new things!). I must admit that it wasn't the most comfortable ride for me and the SV felt like home when I rung it's neck all the way er...home. Saying that it took a while for me to get used to riding the SV but then it was my first love. I'm gonna get used to my new baby and love doing it I hope but if I don't, well, I'm getting it for a good price so there's always next summer! Am a bit gutted I'm getting it just as the summer that didn't happen threatened to happen late and has now all but gone.
:drunken::)

Wish me luck.

maybe the dealer put the wrong tyre on? I'd want a 180 on a 100bhp+ plus bike, personally

You're a *******.

:p

And yes they are whistley and sound rubbish untill you open the throttle, then they have a really "tripley" snarl to them thats just :D
Seems as stock most of the IL4s are the same at tickover, but they don't bark when you open it up, just carry on buzzing at you.

Always find this an odd comment when people test sports bikes! The riding position is aggressive, but you have to adapt to it by leaning forward over the tank more and bending your arms at the elbow - then there is little/no weight on your wrists! :) This also makes steering much easier.

I see people riding sportbikes like they are pushing a shopping trolley about!

Very nice bike, but try one of these first:

Got an hour playtime thanks to Knotts of Stratford Upon Avon. Very nice people, even nicer bike (though when I can get myself one it WONT be in Kwak green). Very compact, fitted me really well. Nible as a CG125 in town, but pulls like a train when the revs rise. And I was AMAZED how effective the dinky little fly screen was at keeping the wind off.

I haven't ridden the speed triple, but this thing has to take sales off its big bro. Only problem would be if you were a big person. This is not a big bike, so you would probably look a bit daft (but then the same could be said for the daytona).

Anyway, if you can get a test ride, DO. If you can afford to buy one then I'm jealous.

Yeah I know, but it's still more stressful than an upright bike which is what I meant, kinda, sorta... lol

It's even funnier going the other way! Rode my friends Bandit after riding and R6 for a year and it felt like a Noddy bike, with handlebars level with my ears! :lol:

What wasn't funny was getting back on the SV and thinking where the f### has all my power gone?
