Just to confirm really ,

I am getting a K5/6 GSXR shock to get put in my K3 pointy SV650 and having it fitted by JHS racing in Bristol. But before i go firm with any bookings i just want o confirm with any knowlegable peeps that this shock will fit??

I am sure it will.

I fitted it to my K4.
It fits if you butcher the battery box, then the battery doesn't fit all the way to the bottom so you have to take the square block of foam off from under the seat for that to fit.
Can't say as I notice a great difference, was OK for me didn't cost much to do it myself, what you payng?

did they change the position of the batt box for the K4 or will mine have to be butchered?

i am assuminf JHS know what they are doing, getting the shock for £70 then JHS quoted £46 to fit it. i would never attemt that mod myself, only with someone who was competent and could do a proper job on it.

I know they added the tool box holder but that was not an issue. £46 for fitting is a great price considering the effort I went to. just make sure they stick to it. I would assume that JHS know what they're doing.

yes iam assumin they know allabout this mod seeing as they are one of the experts in the field of SV moding, iam sure they have come across this type of mod before.

That price is good so i will try to tie them down to that when booking it in. it works out at about 1hrs work.

Just secured the shock, a mint 500miler K5/6 GSXR rear shock for £81 delivered from flea bay!! A bargin i think.

now to get it fitted over the winter and hopefully notice th differance after the front forks have been done as well.

not a chance.

stil think its good value though, time i have it fitted by JHS, looking at a virtually new far superior adjustable shock for £130, compared to at least £250 for an aftermarket one.

If you hawk around ebay for long enough you can pick up an Ohlins, or what have you, for circa £200. Would of been my way of doing things.

Maybe, but that is £200 for the shock then £50 fitting, sot £250, i have saved £120 on that, which is almost enough to sort the front springs out with!!

would you be able to do the same for the K6 SV? I'm just over the bridge in Newport so let me know how it goes.
