View Full Version : Tuesday night meet (21st) - Fleur De Lis , Stokenchurch

Thought I'd start the ball rolling for the next 'social' meet..

What does everyone reckon to meeting at the Fleur De Lis in Stokenchurch?
See here for location - Fleur De Lis (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&near=Oxford&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=115669899618350402779.000437a50d071332bccf5&ll=51.57707,-0.840454&spn=0.831246,1.996765&z=9&om=1)

It's a nice little ride there for all of us and there is lots of parking but not sure about tables outside but doesn't really matter with our great British weather!

Meeting time is flexible but I reckon 7.30-8pm..

Who's in?

PS - Can someone show me how to storten a link and give it a name?

Its a no for me. Wednesday is the only day i have an exam that requires any revision. Thus i will have my head buried in an accts book on Tuesday :)

stevehaskew

I think I should be good for that. I'll update nearer the time! Anyone want to ride out from Reading area? Or... people riding in from London way if I came straight from work...

SDMF

Does any of us really know where it is yet? Other than north of henley, other side of the M40..
Could possibly meet you up in the Henley area Nick?

StreetHawk
16-08-07, 10:51 PM
I know where it is... If you lot are going through Henley then i'll meet you there.

I should be able to make it on Tuesday with the usual caviats:

1. My girlfriend reserves the right to throw a tantrum and forbid me to attend
2. I will be late cause I work in the the East of London
3. I am allowed to completely ignore all instructions when group riding and get everyone behind me completely and utterly lost

Hope to see you all there!

Not only is thsi the first place i can easily find, but there are some decent roads there from Marlow(assuming they have finished the resurfacing)

Of course boreing people could use the M40 :)

KnightRider

Guess I'm the boring one then...

Stig

I've added a poll. If you only knew the roundabout way I had to do that to get a poll added. Anyway poll added.

Who ever wishes to start another thread in regards to who is going to attend, be it a Tuesday meet or a ride, how about adding a poll :?:

hey guys im up for this as im only in high wycombe, had a quick google for the name of the pub and came up with:

FLEUR DE LIS - PUB - Junction 5 M40
OXFORD ROAD, STOKENCHURCH, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. HP14 3TZ
Tel: 01494 482269

Im guessing this is the correct one and it seems pretty easy to get to. Is this going to be a ride out or more of a social thing?

Also i know its probably bad but i dont have an sv anymore, got a tls but its still a twin and its still a suzuki so im guessing thats cool with everyone. If anyone wants my mobiles number inorder to get in contact with me prior to this then pm me.

cheers guys and see you there i guess

Yep thats the right pub. :smt045

It will be a social meet. Small chance of a ride, but realistically by the time everyone is there you've lost the light!

Half of us dont have SV's anyway so thats no issue at all.

It may be worth PM'ing someone sensible like ape you number.

If I was on the bike I'd pop along and say hello as I'm working in High Wycombe at the moment. However as I'm still on crutches I'll save it for when I'm able to get back on the bike

Did someone say BigApe was sensible

That's what I thought. Someone has been spreading malicious rumours again.

Right then, I WILL be there, I will also more than likely be there early. I am err sick tomorrow

So if anyone wants to take my mobile they are more than welcome.

See you all tomorrow.

The more the merrier.

Checking the Metcheck website this morning it is showing an overcast but dry day. So fingers crossed.

I shall be there regardless of the weather so hope it's going to be kind to me.

The Fleur De Lis is set back off the road opposite the Kings Head Hotel along the A40.. :-)

After a bit of head scratching i have come to the conclusion that this revision lark is a trick and has no bearing on exams.

Therefore im tempted to come tonight providing the weather is decent. I wont hang around forver as i want to be in bed at a reasonable time.

Im gonna do a bit of revision now and i'll post again if im coming.

I'll meet James/Nick in Henley if i do :)

I won't be there as early as you guys, by the sound of it. I'll be back from work at 6:30 and then meeting my friend and riding up sometime after 7. Probably get there between 7:30 and 8. Hopefully see you there.

I've decided i am coming (unless a weather front has stealthed in :p)

I'll see you guys in Henley@ 7PM

I assume in the few months i havn't had a night out there, that the Catherine Wheel hasn't moved! I plan on being next to the church, near the bridge.

Yeah, was good. I got a bit wet on the way home, but I only found one manhole cover, so that was ok. Everyone else get home ok?

StreetHawk
22-08-07, 09:14 AM
Just about.. I normally wear glasses for night time driving, so with the combination of wet visor and it being dark, I couldn't see a thing.. Had to follow the car in fronts lights!

Must get some contact lenses sorted!

got home fine. Was cool to see everyone. Had a bit of a fright on the motorway when the connection to my headlight came loose at 90mph and plunged me into darkness! Will be getting my wire crimps out this evening me thinks!:smt103

well i got home fine except for the fact i was tailed by a copper the whole way to my door which kind of stopped my fun. I caught up with him about a mile from the pub and he pulled over to let me passed before gunning it and sitting on my ass the whole time. Its really hard trying to keep the noise down in the little towns when you cant go faster than 30.

It was nice to meet everyone and i had fun but next time we have to go for a ride, a bit of rain never hurt anyone.

ASM-Forever
22-08-07, 12:30 PM
My decision to leave early is vindicated....i didnt get wet and i could see where i was going. No cops for me either :)

I actually did very little revision as i couldn't be assed by the time i got home...but i kaned the exam anyhow.

I got home just fine too. I am also thinking that I probably had the most fun. B roads all the way home, no street lights, raining, gravel and blind bends.

Adrian, you telling me that you can't, for one night in 14, not go for a ride but sit and chat instead :?:

I thought it was good. Good to put faces to names. You know how you build a mental picture of people you have never met? ASM, exactly the same as my mental picture. Now is that a compliment or not.

On a similar note my 'mental picture' of you was slightly off.....your face is less warped than your avatar led me to believe..............

I can do but not sober, im either drinking or riding but unfortunately doing one has a direct effect on my ability to do the other. On a side note is it possible that out of all of us there was not one ciggarette smoker?

Greetings to everyone. I was the bloke who turned up with Steve (the guy with the scar down his left arm, wearing a green T-Shirt). Just thought I'd say hello, dunno if this thread is still live, but as it contains the people who were there I thought it best to use. Nice to have met you all (briefly) I'm sure it wont be the last. Definitely will have to go for a "ride" with a few folk some time......
