Hi guys,

I had my bike on the paddock stand yesterday oiling the chain and when i was spinning the back wheel i noticed that there was a rubbing noise coming from the rear brake at the same Point every time the wheel got turned. The noise goes away once you've turned through that point so is not a consistent rubbing. (Make sense??)

Is this normal? The bike is new with 2k Miles now. And the wheel was removed and put back on recently for a puncture repair.

Could allightment issues be causing this?

if it was alignment it would most likely be rubbing all the time. if it is intermitant (at one point only) then it could be a bent disc. like when you get a buckled wheel on a push bike and the rim rubs against the v-brakes (asuming your still in the middle ages and not using disc). take the rotor of and put it on a flat surface, you should be able to see if it is warped. if the shop fixed the puncture for you there could be a chance they dropped the wheel and the disc got clipped. go back and complain if it is.

Quite worried then because I can't prove the shop did it because it might of been happening before.

It couldn't be anything else?

Is it actually affecting your braking or the performance? If not I wouldn't worry about it. There is a bit of runout allowed on discs anyway.

Will your dealer know that the wheel has been removed, if not take it to them and say "I just noticed this [grinding] noise whilst cleaning, can you check it out for me" you may get it fixed under warantee.

Yeah sounds a good idea. But i wouldn't call it a grinding noise, more a slight rub as the wheel passes a certain point. If i spin the wheel by hand then it will spin for quite a while so the rub can only be slight.
