Ok, just got my curvy, a '99 in yellow, and I need a few pointers. How often is recommended between oil changes? What other general/basic maintenance issues are there? I been running a car for years and only really just getting into bikes. Thanks for any help in advance.:D

Congrats on picking the best shape and colour :smt045

Oil change is every 4000 miles. Does it have a fender extender? If so, this should stop the front cylinder cutting out in the wet. Not all bikes do this, but a lot do. Not a serious problem or anything, just annoying really but it's only a few quid for the extender.

Gimme a break Hovis, I got more of Eric than anyone else!!!! To be honest, if I had seen this site BEFORE I got my bike, Eric would have been gone. Avatar was just a pic I found then right click, saved, resized and posted. Once the bits I've got are on, I'll post a proper pic, there's one on my profile though.

Service every 4000miles (Oil and filter)

Daily checks
Tyre pressures (33f36r - Dependent on tyres but a good starting pint)
Oil
Chain tension/lubrication

Those are the basics. The haynes manual is very good for the routine check secion etc. Over time, you'll need to check brakes etc. If you are competent with a spanner then you can do the basics yourself and save a fortune.
