View Full Version : Who would like a loobman chain oiler?
For less than the already bargain £17.99?
If several people want one, I'll buy X amount and we can meet up to swap money for loobmen!
Reductions are as follows: (from the loobman website)
Order 3 units (£53.97) Get 1 Free (so you receive 4 units) £13.50
Order 4 units (£71.96) Get 2 Free (so you receive 6 units) £12.00
Order 5 units (£89.95) Get 3 Free (so you receive 8 units) £11.25
Order 6 units (£107.94) Get 4 Free (so you receive 10 units) £10.80
Order 7 units (£125.93) Get 5 Free (so you receive 12 units) £10.50
So the more people who want one, the cheaper it is (and I for one am too lazy to drill into my carbs just to oil my chain!)
Let me know, as I'm ordering one next week, and they take a couple of weeks to arrive!
Fenris (leicester central location)
(and I for one am too lazy to drill into my carbs just to oil my chain!)
eh?
In other words, i don't want to be mucking about fitting a scottoiler (plus they're about 6 times the price!
you dont have to drill your carbs.
its easy-peasy to fit a scottoiler
'you dont have to drill your carbs.

Is it?, that's good to know.
They're still a LOT more expensive though! I personally can live with a 'squeeze' every 50 ish miles if I'm saving that much!
Anyway! anyone East or west mids want one?
Hmm, interesting. Off to look at website and see what this is all about. I'm not very good at oiling my chain, so something like this might improve it's life if I can just squeeze as I'm going along.

Sure i saw someone post about these, that they coat your tyre in oil all the time. Would be interested thoughski!
You won't get oil on your tyre, just your wheel at worst.
I used to buy in bulk & sell on ebay for more than retail.

go on then count me inski :D
As far as I know, they're not model specific. They're a really (really) simple idea of reservoir which puts a little oil into a slightly thicker tube, that then runs out due to gravity over 50-100 miles (oil and speed ;) dependant!). The only clever thing is the little dual sided oil tip (which is made of a bit of plastic, and some cable ties!)
Anyone who wants one, please PM me so I have an idea of how many to order, at this stage, onyl one other person wants one, people must LOVE oiling their chains, or already have an auto oiler! I hate doing mine!
FWIW... I have a loobman fitted. Would I buy one again? Nope.
I've had a hairy experience with it, leaving the inner hub of the rear wheel getting covered in oil at motorway speeds. The mounting snaps stupidly easy (I butchered a metal coat hanger as a replacement, which hasn't broken yet). It also drops a lot of oil out of the bottle due to hea when the bike is still.
On another bike, I'd pay more for the scott. Now that I've solved the loobmans prolems, it's not really that different, and not worth the hassle of changing it to a scott oiler.
EDIT: Oh yea, that clever little dual sided thingy that puts oil on the chain/sprocket... expect it to eat cable ties. I go through two approx every 600miles. No cable tie, no oil delivered to the right place.

Count me outski ;)
It also drops a lot of oil out of the bottle due to heat when the bike is still.
The fix to that is in the instructions - put a pin ***** breather hole in it.
As to the cable ties, can you shorten the distance of the wire hanger before the first support? if it wobbled less it would not touch the sprocket so much.

I didn't snap the mounting on the sprocket, but the wire supplied is IMO too thin to give any rigidity. That's why I butchered a metal coat hanger. Much thicker gauge wire. I snapped the mounting cable ties by putting it on a paddock stand.
I personally want the cable ties very very close to the sprocket, so that the oil is put on the sprocket not on the floor.
For me, the loobman is just an extra precaution anyway, as my chain is loobed properly very regularly (or rather, has been so far).
Just noticed I fell foul of the sweary filter.
