View Full Version : How Many Points Do You Have?
Curious to see what others have on their licence. Is there anyone esle out there with an (increasingly rare) clean licence?
How many were from Speed cameras and how many from being pulled over?
Cheers,
Carl

NIL!
But after first ever ride out yesterday on new bike I was shocked how quick you can get the speed up on these and I was trying to keep it below 5500 rpm.................... impossible!
I have no points.
I've never had any points.
Then again, I've never had a licence either:D

Well I peaked at 8 and am now down to three which will hopefully be removed soon. Only in this country could you have a system where more points is a bad thing!
3 from a speed camera

6, none from this year which is a bit weird since I've been riding a lot faster this year and have done more mileage.

zero for me:)
Some blighter caught me with a speed gun when I was on a trip to see the Challenge Cup final St Helens vs Huddersfield. Got the cup final ticket for a tenner, but turned into one of the most expensive days of my life as I also binned the bike that day. Didn't sit well with me when the NIP appeared in the post to boot.
Ah well, lesson learned.

Looking at the replies. I can see you made a fundamental mistake in your poll by not adding a zero option.

Thank you:oops:
Zero. I don't do a massive mileage, tend to avoid the regular traps when possible, and always assume the worst if I'm off to somewhere new.
It scares me that in the first 2(?) years of riding two lapses in concentration and 2 film filled cameras could cost me my license in a matter of minutes.

Like to keep 3 on my licence. Everytime they're due to come off I seem to get another 3!!!

No points for me. Several moderately close calls with cameras and so on, but always just the right side of the limit, even if braking heavily at the time.

3 for me at the moment, got snapped on a motorway doing 82 mph by a van. I regularly drive over 45k miles each year so it's bound happen occasionally :(

82 huh.. Seems so harsh when you consider that probably 75% of all the cars do about 80, and if you stick anywhere close to 70 you're passed constantly and briskly by cars and vans. Bad luck.

6, all in one go, from a camera van. Didn't affect my premium one jot (actually went down this year :D). So, all in, it cost me £190 (fine & prosecution's costs).
So, £27 per year for 7 years of driving/riding at whatever speed I deem safe? You betcha!

I'm still on none, which is quite surprising, given the way I've tended to drive. I've not had much risk of picking them up on the bike yet, as I've only been riding just over a month, but I don't think I'll stay clean-licenced for long..

Nill points
pete
I livein North Wales (home of the speed taliban), I ride with a loud can, and cover 24000miles/yer.
I've been pulled over more times than I care toremember (I think the last time was a bike cop on Pen-y-pass).
Guess how many points I have....
None, Nilch, Nada. :D
(I did get an SP30 years back from a camera van, but those 3 are spent now - and it was long before I had a bike licence.)
I have 9... 99.10 peak speed of 110mph... Jax was on the back too. Then a week later, 97.5 and Jax was on the back then. They all come off this month, just waiting on the paper work to arrive back.

After 29 years of a clean licence I picked up 3 this year, 38 in a 30 limit in the car. what gets me so mad is that 6 weeks earlier the road was a 40 and some council clown decides to reduce the limit. There are no houses there, 15 years ago it was a NSL road.
why reduce it. Well somebody was gunning it down the hill on a flat bed lgv with a tractor loaded. Hit the bend too hot and turned it over depositing the tractor on his cab. So we get the serious death needed to justify reducing the limit and for the talivan to sit at the bottom of a hill where it is impossible not to exceed the speed limit without braking. 3rd gear tickover will not hold back my car.

None! Now ... although at worst I had 10 points (4+3 for speeding, +3 for bald tyre).
Gutted about my first speeding conviction ... got caught doing 93mph on M53 (J2) at 8am on a Sunday morning - no other bugger on the road except the police sat waving their speed gun at me from the motorway bridge. I got 4 pts + £120 fine!!
Then in work a few weeks later, heard that an IBM rep got pulled doing 106mph on the M6 (during the middle of the day, and heavier traffic), and he got 3 pts + £60 fine! :( just doesn't compute!
Last 3 pts for speeding came during a "Charity Jail Break", and was too busy looking for road signs indicating which way I should have been going that I missed the signs that said 40 ... I was doing 48 (thinking I was still in a 50). M8 in car even warned me about police speed trap and said "watch your speed", and I said, "I'm fine, 2mph to spare" ... apparently not ... my m8 even asked the copper if he was feeling "charitable", but the look on his face indicated he'd obviously had his sense of humour AND compassion removed on entry to the police force!
All clean now though :)
