I had a go in this yesterday ... as a passenger!! :D
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb319/blue_sv650s/911tubby.jpg
Needless to say it was cool (for a cage! ;)) ... being a twin turbo, it kinda pulls hard as soon as you put your foot down (first turbo doesn't need much swinging up), then the second (presumably larger) turbo kicks in HARD releasing all 550hp :o .. and then it is WAY cool  :D
Looking at what it said on top of the engine, it evidently has some sort of variable blades on the turbo/s?!?!? I am sure I could look up more if it really mattered to me, all I care is it went like poo off a stick!! :D
He had all the optional extras on it ... like them massive ceramic brakes you can see :smt045 carbon and leather everywhere and Tektronix(sp) gearbox
Like I said pretty much every extra (the steering wheel alone was £1500) and guess how much it cost in total??? ....
...
...
...
£119k .... :o:o:o:o:o
I liked it, but I didn't like it £119,000's worth!!! :|

Its not really working for me in red.....in silver or maybe a metallic bluey/purple.

in silver.
What like this

I drove this bad boy last year Liz bought me a few laps around Thruxton in this and a few others for my Birthday, its a turbo, but I think it was a 2004 model car.
It was f*cking awesome.
Can't beat the sound of the turbo's spooling up, I think it was putting out 420bhp, that one you went in blue must have been mental

Ferrari's are red - porches are black in my opinion!! Red is probably not the colour I'd have got either .... But regardless of colour it is still a cool c4r right?!!? :smt045

Cool :)
And yeah, the red one is an 07 (750 minles on the clock 8)) it had 550hp, so another 130hp ... that is like the power of 2 extra SVs strapped to it :o That one looks like it has some bad-boy brakes too ... presuming they are metal ones, wonder what difference the ceramic ones make??? Surely the size of them on the silver one is big enough to stop a train!?!? :D ...
I like the way they have a little button inside to put the rear end up at speeds <70 (they automatically come up at ~70) ... posers!!!!!

I remember coming down the back straight, god knows what speed as I wasnt looking, down two gears into the chicane, planted my foot flat down on the throttle ( or as much as I was brave enough to ) I heard the mahoosive whoosh and then just an massive shove in the back, a huge wave of torque and then went hammering down the start finish straight.
I looked across at the instructor and was just grinning my face off. If I ever won big on the lottery I'd be straight down the nearest Porsche dealer...
It just didnt feel fast to drive, so capable, so composed, all the time it could have taken more than my driving talent was giving it. Such a nice environment to sit in as well.

The traction control, ABS, active 'spension and stuff are really good in 'sport' mode ... they still let the car get out of shape, but not such that it's gonna bite you!! :) I don't think it'd take too long to get into trouble if you switched the electronics off mind!! ;)
The Porsche has already been to Donnington, and going again some time in the next couple of months 8) ... I have baggsy'd a go (in passenger seat) ... supposedly even with the electronics on it'll let you drift just that little bit round Crainer Curves 8) Like your experience, the only place this thing is gonna make any sense is on track :smt045
They have a tricked out Mk2 golf and some Vauxhall (the sporty one with over-under shotgun exhausts) ... and there was mention of getting another toy for next time too!!! :D
Strangely they reckon the golf is just as much fun (in a different way) as the porches!! Basically the porches is modern perfection ... but the golf is man and machine ... no electronics, no power steering ... just you, ya led foot and the track :)

I had a MKIII Golf, that was a hoot to drive, alot heavier than the MKII though.. ah sigh... what I really want is a mint standard MK1 with the 1800 motor in it. Now that'd be a lot of fun.
The vauxhall is a VX220, I think it might be elise based but with a bigger motor in it...

Bit of google-fu ... yep one of them (VX220)

Personally I have never driven a Golf!! :D
I have always been into my bikes, not really done much with cars ... that is not to say I cant appreciate a b1tching car when I see one ;)
Oh yeah that reminds me I have been in another cool car in my time ... like this (http://www.danschmidt.net/car20.jpg) (not that one, that was just a random pic of a car like it!!!!!! ;))

A properly sorted MKII should be great fun to drive. You're in for a treat.
The VX220 isnt my cup of tea, but again also should be huge fun.
I was a car man before I got into bikes, different experiences, but the sense of satisfaction from driving well I think is the same as riding well.

That porsche is a masterpiece. I'd give up riding for one any day!

Lets face it, up to a ton or so even a SV650 would keep with it?? mibbie not ... but certainly a sports 600 would ... (or perhaps the speed was deceptive??)
Its a cool car, but even £119k doesn't buy you the same straight line performance as say a GSXR 1000 - and that'll cost far less than a tenth of that!! ;)
Basically it's cool if you are into that sort of thing, but personally I'd rather have 10 GSXR1000s ... well ok not 10 Gixers :D but say a £30k Porsche boxter (think they are ~£30k right??) and then £90ks of exotic bikes ... I might even be tempted to get one of the new Dukes if I had that much cash to throw away!! ;)
