70mph on my new sv650 naked im finding it hard to ride at that speed for long time, i knew it was going to be windy being naked but not this bad , do you get used to riding at these speeds and before any one says i should have got a faired sv , i not keen on them.

A different screen might help deflect the wind over/away from you....how tall are you?

I rode London to Manchester on the M6 with my naked SV. You get used to it. I can average 80-90MPH for about an hour, which is about the same time my bladder can hold a half litre of coke.

Don't worry then, you'll soon get muscles in your neck that will enable you to headbutt a rhino into submission ;)

Even on my SV sport the wind is hard work (although I am 6ft 3) although i can tuck in to hide a bit. I have found myself getting more used to it though and definitely seem to need a wee before i need a break from the wind!!

You'll soon get used to it and your muscles in your neck will get stronger. Just keep on getting out there.

Basically stop being a poofter, you get used to it, it's when you put waterproofs on it really starts to try and drag you off!

You'll get used to it, don't worry. I was doing 100 miles a day on mine, mostly motorway at around 90+ and not having any problems.
Stick with it, and don't bother with any of those silly little wind deflectors as all they do is cause buffeting . . . your naked bike looks much better without it

It gets easier in time as they all said.

Naked keeps you honest in my opinion, I've been on a mates gixxer and didnt realise I was, ahem, breaking the national speed limit because it was nice and cosy toast....

Give it a couple of months and you'll have arms like this and wonder what all the fuss is about......

Yes, you'll grow muscles in your neck. I'm not joking, you'll feel them, my collars stopped fitting.

Also, stop pulling against it and relax, you'll settle into a comfortable pose with the wind holding your body and head up. Less strain on the body.

Was it windy day? This makes all the difference. Also like everyone has said the right muscles will develope where needed. Maybe try a different screen or if your head is bouncing around it could be your helmet. A good lid also make a big difference.

Better start saving for some new shirts as they will not fit in a month or so.

You will also be able to impress your mates with your new found forearm strength with application of the Vulcan Death Grip:smt072

If it still bothers you after a while, change your bars to Renthal Streetfighters or similar which will bring you more over the front wheel (more leant forward and more feel from the front tyre)

Anywayz, bask in the fact you are comfier, don't look as stupid and are having more fun.

After a while you just get a huge neck. Or you're head comes off.

Well done on choosing the naked. Really easy to lift that front wheel isn't it? You will soon get used to that wind, but I cant really maintain speeds over 90 for more than a few minutes, which I think is a good thing! Like others have said a good helmet makes a big difference, as do earplugs. I am saving for a schuberth, as they are reckoned to be quiet and pretty aerodynamic.

While I agree with the above when talking about pretty ladies, I have to say I was REALLY impressed with the screen on the Street Triple I tested this week. It was really easy to ride at three figure speeds for short blasts, and IMHO looks the mutts.

I have a naked and yeah, anything above 70 and its pretty uncomfortable wind wise. Motorways are bit of a mare, short blast of 90.... I find do-able but not very pleasant and a bit of a battle.

Oh and I havent got a fat neck...........yet;)

Jans has only recently passed her test and had her SV a week, so I dont really think she needs to be speeding up just yet.

one of my lady pupils didnt go over 50mph much on her new restricted sv in the first few weeks, 2 advanced days training and a small givi screen she was over taking me doing 90 plus in the dark on the way home from a ride out :smt041

Get some ear plugs and get on with it.

My naked SV is so smooth on the motorways - I am more that chuffed with it.

If it's very windy then slow down.

... then ride faster and make the pain worthwhile.

Kids today
