thinking of riding without the baffels in, only so people can hear me coming , safety only. has any one be stopped by the police and what is the penalty for doing this.

i think and im not sure, all that will happen is they will give you a producer slip which means you have to take you bike to a mot station and get them to sign it off as being road legal, then all you do is go home put baffles back in take it to test station etc.
but i am in know way endorsing you to break the law:king:

The police will only stop you for no baffle if your riding like an idiot, the large majority of on here dont seem to have a problem baffle less.
Baffles?
What are they, then?

Never had a problem and my bike was just checked to see if it could do track days with a max volume of 105db. I failed misserably with a whopping 122db at 6k rpm. as long as you keep it kind of quiet around town and dont do something stupid then your not going to get into any trouble.

The baffel fell out of mine due to bad build quality ;)
So I've just stuck it under the seat for just in case.

riding out to the Cat & Fiddle pub in Maccledfield on monday when Mr Plod stopped me for my "small" number plate. He noticed my blue flame twin prt carbon can didnt have an E or BS stamp and gave me a ticket. I had to put my original can (god does it sound crap) back on and take it to an MOT station to get it signed off as OK. He also gave me a £30 fine for the number plate.
this was all done "to reduce fatalities on Derbyshires roads".
Havnt these people got lives?
He even told me they were out targeting bikes.
ruined my day!

My can has a BS mark, and no baffle, pretty good for homemade ;)

As others have said I wouldnt worry about it, my SV is loud, my TL makes your ears hurt and I've never been stopped even after sitting next to rozzas at lights and probably spilling their coffee :) Unless you give them a good reason to bother filling in all the paperwork involved they will not bother.

What a pain in the ****! No doubt the casualties will be dramatically down this year - and they will take credit for it... Nothing to do with the lack of sun + consequent riding though ;) oh no

Remember folks, loud cans and small plates are killers.
Use them responsibly :P

Don't hack up your standard pipe - keep that for MOT's just in case its required or for police etc and when you come to sell. Save up your pennies for an after mkt job. Scorpions come in at about £120 - £130 with easily removeable baffle. carbon Can Co cheaper still but you have to drill out a rivet. So its not worth mucking with your stnd can. IMHO :D

Yes, been done for loud pipe. If you take the baffles out you DO run the risk of getting nicked, but that is obvious?!!? ;) … is this a trick question!?!? :D
