Hi Guys

I'm trying to put on my new tyre for my old bike, which is a tubed type tyre. The changing the tyre bit is easy but trying to change it without puncturing the inner tube is a bloody nightmare!

I have punctured 3 tubes so far! What the hell is going on!? Anyone with old bikes, past or present with tips on changing. I used to do this pretty easy before, but now i'm having a heck of a job doing this new tyre change and its driving me nuts!

:nomore:

Any tips?

Cheers

Put a bit of air in the inner tube to keep it out of the bead, careful with the levers!

Yep, it needs great care not to nip the tube.

As Razor says, once one side of the tyre is on the rim, fit the tube then partially inflate so it keeps its shape and you can "feel" it clear of the levers.

The other thing which makes it all a zillion times easier is to get some proper tyre soap (ask very nicely at a local tyre fitting place).

Thanks for the tips guys, did exactly that, partically inflate then feel for clearence of tube then lever on. Get kinda tricky when you get to the last bit to lever on as its quite hard to get your fingers under there to push away before putting lever in.

Now I got pressure on 30 psi :D, however its a tube i have repaired using a professional mountain bike patch, but i don't think its gonna hold, but at least i got it to pump itself up!

Will have to change for a new one anyway for the cost of safety first :(
