Got my new bike! Trumpet Daytona 675

I got a van to collect her. Get this. 1132 miles from London to Inverness and back in about 21 hours including a 1 hour stop in Leamington to see mates and 1 hour in traffic on the M40! No traffic anywhere apart from 30 miles from home, oh and the time it took to view the beauty and test ride her. I also attempted to sleep for about an hour in the back of the van until the seller rang me at half six to go and get her. I'd have had to wait a few hours otherwise til he got back from work. Call me a man with a mission!

A day passes....

Well I took her out today. I'm a bit dissapointed. Dissapointed I didn't get one sooner!
Lovely machine. Only done about 40 miles or so but she's a beaut. I did notice a couple of things. Apart from spotting on the lap timer that showed someone had done 105 miles on it I also spotted a couple of other weird things. There was a line in dust-yes dust- on the fork lowers that would suggest the fork has dived right down to about an inch before it hits. Could this be normal dive with hard braking or has it been strapped down too tight before I bought it or stoppied? Also, it looked like there was a kind of wax or similar on the inside of the headlight lenses. I wasn't best pleased with the normal headlight. Didn't reach very far at all.
Overall I'm very glad I got it and don't think it'll take long for me to get used to. The suspension was great and I found myself purpously riding over tar banding to see if it tracked them but I hardly felt them at all. I did get quite buzzy fingers but I was probably holding on too tight!
Beauty. Going to show all my mates tomorrow (today) at their fire station. Oh yeah the steering lock is a bit poor! Nearly copped it coming out of a petrol station. He he. Will have to get used to that.
Lovely. I'm off to dream about it.

P.S. the Triumph forums are a bit pants so I think I'll hang around here if that's ok?

couldn't get on with the riding position myself on the test ride, and I couldn't help judging the engine against the big T5 lump, so it was a bit weak, but then against the current ss6's it'ss well in there, looks smart if a little "jap", but then I think that's what they were going for.

Have to bring it down Soho show the boys.

Will do. I think Mr Bear is bringing me one evening. Maybe when I'm used to the **ite steering lock so I don't drop it in front of everyone!

I don't even know what the T5 lump is! I'm very naive. Didn't even ride a sports 600, I was sold it my the press. It was a bit of an impulse thing really so I won't be able to afford food for a few months.

It is a bit Jap looking but then what does a good British sportsbike look like? I did like the angular Daytona's looks. It's a wee bit like that but rounded and the size of a pea.

I didn't have a great test ride but tonight made the slight worrying worthwhile. Am more than pleased with it.

Yeah, looks sweet, steering lock seems to be a bit of a Triumph thing, the T5 is the fuel injected big triple, 885cc/955cc and new 1050cc. T3's are the carbed vesion.

Knees much the same , hopefully will get a surgery date when I see the consultant on the 11th.

Only spoken to the fella on here and looked at his myspace which tickled me! Still meaning to watch his film.

I do really like the new Tiger too. If I was a bit more sensible or old I'd have one of them instead of a sports bike. As it is I still need to get my ancient Transalp working properly for our holiday next year!

Oh Jamies a nice guy, Sean brought his new tiger around to me a while back, very nice and if I had to get one of the big triallies then it's the one I'd go for, but the the T'bird sport came up, funnily enough a friend can round on the thursday with a 2002 one and I tried it and was able to sit without to much pain, friday just looking through Ebay and saw a hinkley original, made them a silly impulse offer and they say yes so ended up with a stunning example, one of those bikes you always wanted but never though you'd own, rides a dream to.

Sorry I was being lazy but have read the knee thread update now. It seems to me you'd ride a bike even if you had to have your leg strapped to the bike! You know there's a charity that helps poorly bikers finance and make mods to bikes so they can stay on the road? Off to read the T'bird thread. I'm guessing you're a bit older than me cos I've no idea what one is! :pale:

Yeah i'd imagine I've a few years over you, on my 8th Hinkley triumph now (4 speed triples, a t595,daytona 955i, tt600 and now the T'bird sport), just had the SV for a couple of years in the middle.

Very nice bike, I'm jealous. That is the bike I want. Now that someone on here has it I want it even more.
