I'd put, "Test rides are welcome provided I have £XXXX in cash in my hand whilst you are out on the bike."

I'd explain where the scuff came from (if it was something 'favourable' like a car door, drop off the sidestand etc.), if it was a higher speed drop, I'd keep quiet (about how it was caused) and let them ask. Mention that it has never been raced (provided it hasn't). A lot of the mags cite the popularity minitwins as proof that a lot of SVs have been raced, even if in reality it's only a small proportion and it could put a cautious buyer off.

I'd maybe rephrase the "i have owned this bike for just over a year, & its a great first bike (i have just upgraded)" as it could be interpreted as you had it for a year (as your first bike) then got bored of it and upgraded. I'd also not advertise the fact you've only had it for one year, personally. Instead, why not copy and paste something from a review in a magazine, you know the usual stuff they say about the SV:
"Unintimidating for new riders and an ideal first big bike, yet at the same time with more than enough performance to ensure more experienced riders are entertained by it."

HTH.

Looks alright Hovis, too much information and it appears boring, so a nice short ad like that is good. I'm assuming your putting the mileage and age of the bike at the top of the ebay add?

Can't think of much to add that hasnt been mentioned, obviously have a look at other sv sales or bike sales on ebay and maybe state a deposit amount.

ITS FINE but are you sure no reserve is a good idea?

Richie

You don't need to put the Colour or thats it's Half faired, as They'll see the photos...
all the rest of the blurb is good,
Make sure you start your starting price at what is the very minimum of what you want for her.
and when you do sell her tell the person about the site, so you'll get chance to see her again...

Have you checked out the start price for the equivalent bike ?
if you start yours too high then it wont sell.

just a thought.

Where is the poll?

I'd start it at £500 reserve it for what ever u hope to get, set it realistically tho, If im bidding on something that the reserve is stupidly high i don't bother.

The bike will always go for what someone reckons its worth, id be tempted to start it without a reserve and get a bidding frenzy on it.

Why put this guff in???

If I have put SV650 into the search, I know what one is and why I want to buy one!!! ...

I hate this sort of stuff almost as much as people saying "Its a fast bike, will keep with R1s through the twisties" ...

Just state the facts.

The make, model, year, mileage, condition of components (tyres, chain, pads and discs) service history, all the gears work as they should, runs turbine smooth, doesn’t smoke etc etc. Stuff you would want to know if you bought it, not guff like you have put, that tells me NOTHING about the actual bike I am about to bid on!!! ;)

See, you say that, but you're obviously into bikes and at least reasonably knowledgable about them. Some n00b who has just past their test might have no idea whatsoever about what sort of bike is an approprate first bike (just see all the midlife crisis weekend warriors with gixxer thous ;))

So are you saying some people read/view every eBay listing until they find a bike suitable ...

That person should have their head in mags/writeups/reviews then, not on eBay ;)

That is not how it works surely??? You have 2 classes of people, the ones that know what they want and are looking for it and the ‘browsers’ … a browsers will go for it coz they like the look/price … if they don’t know about the model, then a bit of googlefoo to get a 3rd party opinion is the answer, not reading random guff selected by the seller ;)

Its just guff and of no value to an advert for a specific bike ...

Let the bidder decide if it is suitable … you might actually be pitting people off by ‘classifying’ the bike …

What did you add to Ebay?

My POV too. A mate, however, came to the decision he wanted a faired fazer after reading loads of ebay ads and deciding that it was the best bike for the money. Mad, innit?

No, but you can amend the wording!! ;)

Ok, leave the guff in if you must (still think it is pointless, but hey, there are a lot of idiots on eBay, you might as well capture them too :D) but please ADD info like history, and component condition!! ;)

Put these and the ‘braided hoses’ etc under good points.

“There is a small scuff on the right side fairing, which i have shown in the photographs due to a car brushing past it”

Please change the punctuation/wording in this so it reads as intended. here you go, summin like this:-

“There is a small scuff on the right side fairing which was caused by a car brushing past it one day. (I was very annoyed as it is otherwise immaculate!) I have tried to capture the damage in the 'close-up' photo of the fairing”
