Quote from RiDE magazine this month, they did a wee section on Knockhill.
"Knockhill's on the Firth of Forth and it feels like all the bad weather off the North Sea gets funnelled in and dumped in the track. Canny locals watch the clouds to the east, over Kirkcaldy, knowing that whatevers over there now will be arriving at the circuit within ten minutes"
I could be completely wrong, but, I tend to work on the principal that prevailing wind and weather movement in Central Scotland is westerly, and the wind at Kirkcaldy offshore. So if you wanna know what the weathers gonna be like at Knockhill, look up the river, towards Stirling.
What do we think?
"If you can't see the mast, get inside fast." ;)
That is all.

I would say they're talking complete and utter bull**** **** ********. Bunch of ****s.
I am 10 mins from Knockhill - and the weather is no different to kinross. I live up the side of kinnesswood hill and I can see knockhill from my house. The prevailing weather is from the west.
My next door neighbour is the track doctor and he assures me it's every bit as dry as anywhere else in the fife/kinross area. They've had very few wet days this year and its in the track logs. Just because these stupid dicks have experienced a couple of wet days then it obviously rains "all the time". Its like these eejits abroad who say it rains all the time in Scotland - again complete ********. Scotland gets the same rainfall as england and wales and the met office records are there to prove it. We do get slightly lower temperatures - thats all.
Just a case of the "I don't know anything about it but here's my opinion anyway" mentality.
Rant over ;)

I've been stood at Knockhill in sunshine while everywhere else within 50 miles was drowning, mind... And I've done a trackday there that rained all day, and nobody else saw as much as a cloud. It does seem to get its own weather sometimes...
From my car racing days, general rule for Knockhill was, if you can't see the masts, it's raining, if you can see the masts it'll be raining soon.
i could count the number of times I have been to knockhill and it was not rained on one hand. As for doing track days there when its dry - pahhh thats for wimps lol
