Okay....I exaggerated a bit for effect. It was taken from the old summerhouse we maintain at the eastern end of the Estate......

The view from the Castle walls was a little better, but the staff were slow in getting the horses hitched to the carriage to take me up there in time.....

Oh, and it's the A380. And boy, is it BIG!!

Well, that photo must be at least ten years' old, as the Nimrod is flying over the harbour in Hong Kong. Photo taken from somewhere in Causeway Bay, I think.

If the RAF tried that these days, they would get shot down!

Errr.......it's the Airbus A380 actually!

But you got the location.....low pass over Victoria Harbour this morning (twice). Amazingly, whilst it could be seen alright, it is incredibly quiet and could hardly be heard.

*Note to Hong Kong AA gunners: Nimrods are the ones with engines in the wing roots! :)

Did you see the Lancaster come over Sat afternoon with the Spitfire wingman?
It came right over my house, really low. Nothing to do with my job, no no not at all.

Theres a guy who regulalry practises his stunting in his plan in the skies above my house, he comes from shoreham airport. He sometimes flies a fantastic sounding plane, me and my dad think its a V12 merlin engine or something

Time to book myself an opticians appointment, methinks. It was the body shape that fooled me, but I somehow missed the four enormous engines hanging under the wings!

It it really that much quieter than your standard widebody jet?

For sure the gunners couldn't have missed the target!

I haven't heard it take off yet, so what I say is very subjective, but it wafted past the hotel almost without a sound - one of my colleagues was on the roof in the pool, and missed it! A sort of low drone like a regular wb jet, but I would say quieter still.

I used to love flying into Kai Tak, just to see the faces of the first timers. Chek Lap Kok (stupid name) has no soul.

Seeing as you are near to my old stamping ground, get yourself up to Jimmys kitchen for a bite. Or take the Star Ferry up the Perl river to catch something nasty in Shajiao.
