The time has come to sell my Black SV. I really didnt want to sell her, however the cost for an 18 year old to insure a 1 litre micra
is F@&%$!" ridiculous!

She has the odd scuff (very minor) and corrosion on the forks (common problem). She is in great mechanical condition and approximately 21,000 on the clock. She has never let me down and is regularly serviced. She has the following extras:

33BHP Kit (can be removed)
Belly Pan
Renthal Bars (with custom made cables, not bodged by re routing old ones)
Bar End Mirror (got original mickey mouse mirrors though)
Undertray (needs re painting)
Tail Tidy
Micro Indicators (front and back).
Braided Front and Rear Hoses
Scorpion cut down oval carbon fibre pipe (with crack in it).
Alarm and Immobiliser
Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Rubber, lots of tread left.
7 Months MOT
6 Months TAX
Crash Bungs - Unused

Bad Points:
Needs a good polish, its not showroom condition, but a very good commuter or winter bike. The Exhaust link pipe (from an R6) has a graze on it, not done on this bike, I've never dropped it.

Im not sure how much its really worth, so a few opinions would be much appreciated, I cant seem to get my pictures small enough (taken with 17mp SLR), so if anyone would like to see them all, please drop me an email address and I will happily forward them.

Thanks

Oh man! If only you could've waited another couple of months for me to pass my practical and talk my wife round I would've snapped this up... :shaking:

I'm not completely on the ball with pricing but have been keeping an eye on what's available for a while now, and I reckon (obviously depending on what it looks look on inspection) I'd spend around £1000 - £1200 for that, looks very nice too!

Good luck selling!

Im not in a hurry to sell, ive not passed my car test or got a car yet, I was just seeing if it was worth anything and if people are interested.

However, if someone was to offer me cash I would probably take it.

She's still for sale guys, any interest? I really need to get rid, cant afford insurance on my car, and running a bike and car at the same time is proving very difficult.

If you cant afford to run both then cancel insurance on the bike and dont use it that way it wont cost you any money just sitting there as you will not be able to ride it

ugp

Maybe you can afford to have £1000's worth of kit just sitting there, I've got a car, a bike, and one huge student loan to pay off! The bike needs to go, its not the insurance, thats pittance (I was paying 300 fully comp at 17).

I have a student loan to pay off ok not at the moment but soon enough. So you are to sell your bike to help pay of the student loan i didnt know that at the time of my post. Well good luck hope you get a decent price for it. Also i know the insurance isnt much for sv650s this was one of the main reasons i bought one i was saying it would cost you nothing to just not run the bike anymore

Return her back to as close to original condition as possible and I'll give you 500 quid for it. Then sell the extras on here / fleabay to get the other 500 you want. I'm looking for a second bike and this will fit the bill nicely.

I'm not really up to speed on the cost of second hand extras but the can, alarm and 33BH Kit must be worth 100 quid each surely.

Let me know what you think.

metalmonkey

The bike is worth far more than ?500 don't take advanatge of people espically someone who is struggling to make end meet, having been there as student its not great and still paying for it.

Mate can you not got under your parents for the first year, then save up some money for the following year to pay insurance? How long have you had the bike, I have heard of some companies taking bike NCD, towards car insurance. Doesn't work car to bike though I tried, I have 7 years NCD for the car.

This time of year isn't the best for selling bikes, could it possibaly wait, till Febyary/March?

Best of luck, I hope you manage to keep both or get the price you should get for your bike.

Remember GSx1400 aftermarket parts don't add value. Selling the bike as standard may work out better then make ya money on spares. Could easily turn that back to standard sell for 1200 and sell your spares to help fund what you need to pay off soonish...

Are you taking the ****? Thats half its value, to be honest I would rather crash it than take £500 for it!

Hi there, thanks for understanding, everyone else seems to want to rip me off! I am under my parents at the moment, I borrowed a grand to insure the car, and need to pay it back, otherwise I would have kept the bike as its mechanically perfect and has never gave me any trouble (I took it to france, through to spain, and back again with no problems whatsoever.

Unless someone on here offers me the grand its worth, it will be going on ebay with a reserve.

Make sure you set the reserve at your minimum price that you are willing to let it go for.

I suggest ?850-?950 if you are looking at getting about a grand for it.

Good luck with the sale and don't let anyone take the pi** with any offers they make.

I wasn't taking the p*** or trying to rip anyone off. I made an offer and it has been refused , simple as that.

I'm looking for a cheap 2nd bike and the seller was looking for a grand for it. I thought this deal might suit both of us - he gets a grand by selling the bike and extras seperatley and I get a hack (no offence but that is what I would use it as) for 500 notes.

F*** Me things have changed on this site in the 3 years I've been away.

Jester666

£500 is not a reasonable offer for what looks like a clean tidy bike.

It could be quite easily construed as taking the p*** or taking advantage of someone who admits that they don't really know what its worth. (First post at the bottom).

Fortunately advice closer to the mark has now been given.

ei im not sure how you managed to say that with a straight face looks like a tidy enough bike worth around double that.

Definition of value is what someone is prepared to pay.
Given that this has been on sale for over four months I dont think anyone is taking the p!ss by making a low offer. The offer was made politely and with the proviso that the seller could take off the extras and it was duly declined.
What on Gods earth is wrong with that and why does the guy get flamed?

Jester666
15-01-08, 03:22 PM
Because it was very obviously a low valuation.

Anyway enough derailing the thread.

ugp has been given the advice so let's now leave it alone and let him decide what he wants to do.
