the tap is done up tight, but it is still a bit leaky,so ........

can i use P.T.F.A tapt(or whatever its called? or will the petrol rot it?

or maybe locktight?

or any other idaes

What bit specifically is leaking and what type of design is it?

im not 100% sure (i will check tomorrow & take pictures)

i think there is a metal tube, the diameter of a marker pen with threads at the base, then the tap screws to it with a floating nut?

i would think its the same as yours?

My 50 had a persistant petrol leak from the tap. My dad found some petrol proof filler-type-stuff that we put all over the area of the leak. Did the trick perfectly :smt023

I've spent far to much time in the garage today so I'm not going out to check, but from memory (and lets face it!) this does sound similar to mine. And I also had a leaky tap at one point, due mainly to frequent removal of the tank. At the base of my tank there is a threaded metal tube with a rather large nut on it this connects the tap to the tank and in coming loose caused my leak. Have you checked that?

I am a little confused (and again, lets face it) by what you mean by a floating nut?

I would for the time being stay away from any petrol tank repair stuff until you have found the exact cause of the leak.

i did not know what its callled, but the nut will spin while the tap is in the same position

right, it looks like i'm missing an O-ring washer thingy that goes between the tap & tank, so i have ordered one from honda for two english pounds.......... but, if i was to get one in a motor shop, would it be petrol proof?
