Ok - I know this thread appears a million times but I was wondering what the current opinion is?

I use my SV to commute in and out of work about 3 miles each way, all year round so I am looking for a tyre that offers some decent grip when cold but enough grip to let me play at the weekends and evenings.

At the moment I've got the original D220s on the SV and having been out for a 50 mile ride today got home to found them barely warm. On my old ER5 the Pirelli Sport Demons I fitted got warmer than that in 3 miles!

The candidates seem to be the Metzeler Z6 (good cold performance) and the PR2 (very responsive but not as good when cold)

Cheers

Dave

I always find the black slightly bendy rubbery sort of ones work really well for me.

But make sure you put compressed air in them!!!111one1
Boy was my face red.

By the way, has anyone ever heard this clunking noise on the front of their bike ever?

I got a Z6 on the rear, and just put a Z6 on the front, seem fine to me.

Have just had a new rear tyre - it was desperate to get it done, shop had no Pirellis so I told them to fit a BT021. New on today, feels OK, responsive but haven't pushed it as it's only done 13 miles.

3 mile commute???

You need new tyres on your pushbike for that - not an SV!!!!

Ed was looking at tyres today, need a new rear, and guy in shop told me to go for the BT021, i am running pirelli diablo strada and the guy said he would not run them on a sports tourer only as a last resort. this surprised me as the BT021's are £16 cheaper, how are you finding them ?
