View Full Version : Anyone go to Brighton Burnup?
Wow how busy was it down there!!!! The whole seafront, bikes lined next to each other, 4 rows deep the whole way down the seafront. Never seen so many bikes.
Most were Harleys/chopper type bikes, and loads of the Vespa massive down there.
Lovley day, a little toooo hot for me. Was a bit depressing seeing a bikers body who had died going Brighton bound on the A/M23 though. Bike in the middle of the motorway, it had been closed. Reminds you how weak we are.
Only took a few photos, might upload them tonight. There wasn't really many bikes that really stood out at me. But a nice ride out and a good day.
Anyone else pop down there?
Twas a good weekend for me. New rubber all round, a test ride on an 1130cc Benelli TRE, found some new roads that are good, bikes been serviced, cleaned, and ready for the work hack :( again, and the ride down to Brighton.
I was there, saw the bike and body (I think) on the A23 :-(
Was a fabulous day, and yes - how many bikes!!!!!
Yes I was there with La Mon
Yes we were diverted from the A23 where there had been an accident and they had to close the road.
The 'body' as you so sensitively put it was a female motorcyclist who died on the Ace Cafe reunion rideout. I don't know who she was - I may never know - but you can be sure she had people who loved her who are now trying to come to terms with her death. We swa a fellow biker sat by the roadside holding his/her head in hands but there were professional there to help and there was little more we could offer.
It was a good rideout, weather was lovely and there were thousands of bikes
Sorry guys if 'a body' got inyour way and inconvenienced your riding. A little sensitivity goes a long way y'know

A couple of mates from work were at Eastbourne with the MG owners club and travelled around the coast, they couldnt believe the number of bikes there especially on the A23 coming home. Sad news about the rider, the bbc noted a few paragraphs about some incidents that day...

Just so you know more about 'the body'

My old man went, he saw the crash. Dont think he reaslies though that someone died.
I was going to pop down from home (about 5 miles away from the pier in the east direction), but decided not to bother. Glad aswell, as it proved to be exceptionally busy.
Matt
I rode down in the morning with a small group - took some nice back road twisties. Passed through the melee on the beach and went home via the motorway to see herds of bkers all the way back to the M3. Cant imagine how they managed to get them all on the beach??? A nice gingerly morning ride - glad to have escaped when I did.

Great rideout, really was!! Didn't see the unfortunate accident on the A23. RIP.
Was on the Red Dog stand, and rode in on the back of the Tornado that was on the stand.
Got pics to upload later- amazing number of bikes, I had a huge grin on my face!!!
Rode down via Box Hill, and back via Arundel. We were surrounded by about 200 Scooters on the way down there- great fun!
yeah we were there, on a yellow CBR with my other half on the back taking photo's. we got literally a thousand of people on the way down. so there is probably a good chance i got some pic's of people from here.
if you saw a camera being pointed at you on route - let me know, ill see if i can locate you in the photo's
saw the accident - bad stuff - RIP,

You MUST have met my dad then, Lloyd????? He's working for Red Dog at the moment.
As for Messie, actually it didn't inconvenience me at all as I was heading back home and passed it on the other side of the motorway. I wasn't being "insensitive" at all??? I even commented how it reminds you how weak we are????? I think you may be being "too sensitive" to the situation. Lots of bikers unfortunatly loose their lives on bikes, you can't feel a loss for all of them, we all take risks every time we get on a bike!!!

Yes i was there as usual, its only a 5 mins drive from home as i'm local! i took my slow bike down to the seafront, no point in taking the SV, as its just a lot of hassle for such a short trip!

I didnt mean to offend, I referred to Marta as a "body" because I knew no details of the accident when I posted and was not even sure if it was what I thought it was. This post was not about the accident, it was about the day at Brighton.
It did not inconvenience me at all, even if it had I would never be callous about it.
RIP Marta.

We're talking about Lloyd who had the accident last year right? Nice guy!
Aye, broke his leg/knee/hip in lots of places, still limping. Had the Benelli Tornado, now got an MV-R Augusta (pics in photos section).
He knows he noodles about bikes. He can ride them well too.
Ahhh memories of watching him strip his race bike in the living room over christmas...
