Was the perfect tool for my 12 mile commute, but since I've moved six months ago not found a use for it.
Perfect for larking around, rubbish for a ride out. Mines been idle on its optimate for months now.

Was a toss-up between an SV650S and DRZ-SM for a year round commuter/2nd bike a coupla years ago now. They had been out a few months.
Went SV for various reasons, but the DR has a solid rep and the SM is pretty trick (like plenty of suspension adjustment), and even cheaper to run.
Lovely bike. A feckin razor to sit on. Needs a pipe (or an Akra system and a big carb:smt077) and some hanguards.
Yellow or black?
Why the change?
Am just down the road from Jim so 2nd on?;):D

stramasher, as of saturday, was trading in the SV, had signed up etc but was in the garage on sunday and thought, what the **** am a doin here as I would be left with no sportsbike and a wee yam TW125 still sitting there.
the SV is too much fun to part with, dont know what I was thinkin about !
phoned on monday, took the wee yam in and got a really good px on it instead (its 2 and half years old with 962 miles and absolutely spotless), it will be a good bike for someone
was really surprised with MOM as their prices were really keen, they beat the asss off Cupar with their PX prices although cupar was a wee bit cheaper on the DRZ retail - will be easier to get to glasgow since I work there anyway
Also, got the impression (twice in the past week) that when talking to Cupar, they were not too interested anyway.
Thats the 3rd time I have tried to deal with MOM in the past two years so really glad I went in to see them

And Jim, nae bother, will let you know when I pick it up (should be saturday)

i want a shot... I know someone has put a Yoshi end can and race cams on his and he uses it more than his big bike... then again Laurie's mental he got rid of his KTM 950 SM
for a GSX-R1000 and one of those... He says he hardly uses the K7 and is always out on the DR-Z...
Can you bring it to the dukes pass so i can have a play on it???

Nice one, that'll be fun.
youl b terrorising everybody with wheelies/burnouts
Oh please no! We've already got one wheelie/stoppie/burnout terrorist weaving thru the group to make us all nervous, we don't need another! I won't complain about a wee stunt show in the car park though! :D :smt077

spot on careless
funny you should say that, thats exactly what Raymond in the shop said, they have loads of fun on them up there
Brother is having a hoot green laning on one.
He inherited it free from a friend, who's not using it.
He says it's great in town for point and squirt traffic negotiating.
Been thinking about one as a winter hack. Nobbly's and all.
Let us know how you get on with it.
Cheers
Arrrrr, just checked it out again.
BIKE ENVY!!!! :p

cam, yep, got it for light off road stuff/winter hack etc
the wee YAM was great for that stuff, the only thing it was missing was some oomph and was dodgy on overtakes etc (although it could be wound up to 70 at a push)
the DRZ should be mucho better
they are goin to drop the forks a bit and soften up the suspension at the back since I am the proverbial shortie, jeeze, had a problem even throwin me leg over it.
havin said that, it does sag a good bit when sitting on it although still on me tiptoes

Was wondering about that being a tiny little fella myself. I think fork drop, suspension tweak and one of those kick step things with the wheels on and I'm away!
Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh :smt045

Scooby how tall are you? Im thinking about getting a drz400s which I know someone is selling for £1k. Its 6 yrs old, done some green laning and has 6k on the clock. Seems cheap but not ran for 18months as he's not had use for it. Still starts apparently.

robchester, at 5ft 6in with a 29in inside leg, I am the proverbial shortie :p
there are loads of ways to lower it, dependant on weight etc (11stone), you can alter the sag as well
I took the seat off and removed about 30mm of foam from the middle part (where I will be exactly seated when at a stop), this might be enough for me as I can now get the balls of both feet down rather than doin a one leg tip toe.
The seat is actually made of two parts of foam stuck together, I removed part of the under seat bit so it still has its original contours on top to fit snugly back into the fitted cover, it looks totally original and untouched !
If I need more of a drop, I will lower it through the forks and fit longer dogbones but will need to fit bar risers as its almost touching the ignition switch
hope this helps and if you need any other info let me know
