After getting the rand on looking at Double D's pipe(:smt103) all weekend i was wondering... Is it possible to shorten the standard can and remove the inside to it also?
:stupid:

Yep but you need a good welder, why though slip ons are cheap enough.
You would have noticed Lissa and Petes SV has a very short stubby can on, PM them and ask about it. When i heard it i was impressed by it.
also why modify the original you may require it for the MOT and its eaiser to take off a slip on aftermarket and replace than it would be with replacing the whole system. Which would be the case if you modified the standard exhaust.

Not my MOT! ;) My exhaust is legal and my original is just wasting away in the garage at the mo...Just and idea. Dont see why it would need welding, just rivvetting again :-?

Plowsie, the original is a welded up. There are no rivets.

That might just work if you left about 1cm of can with the end cap then after you have chopped down the can you could wedge the end cap back on with some sealant then drill and rivvet it in place. Jobs done.
It would still look pants though.

Right i didnt do it but i had a look at AA16 Road and Race Supplies which is where i think Lissa got her can from. Gotta speak to my mates dad whose a welder if i need him. Think i will buy the inlet and outlet from AA16, cost of £35, cut the standard can somewhere to make it a stubby, remove all the inside and play from there lol. It may not work but its a project and summit to do :)

Right pulled the can out earlier from where it was gathering dust. Can still cut it to keep the road legal stamp on it, looks like its the only place i can do it too lol. Now to get dad's angle grinder out and cut through the puppy lol :D That will either be tonight or Sunday.
Then to remove all the junk from the inside and just have a bottom less and topless tube of stainless steel :)

lol i can just ask AA16 Road n Race Supplies to get me a sleeve from there. They're not too expensive either :D
i took my baffle out this weekend and its staying out, im keeping it under my seat dont know what the plod would say, if its points or a telling off
plowsie
25-09-07, 10:02 AM
Personally i would keep mine under the seat, but i dont  But if you get stopped i'm sure they would give you the option of putting it back in. If a copper is behind me or summit i tend to pull away and change very early and turn off into a road ASAP, if they follow me down there i'd stop. Therefore they havent heard the full power of the exhaust yet. But if they are stopping you not for the exhaust then dont give them another reason, hence low revs early changes. I've been stopped once and that was cos of the exhaust. My excuse was great :)
come on then what was the excuse it must have fallen off officer or ive just bought it

I showed him the bikes scratches on the fairing and the snapped levers, said to him i crashed it last night in wootton(near where i live) and left it at my mates, (showed him dents in old exhaust on my phone) because i didnt want to ride it. He said so why is it so loud, i said because he had this in his garage but without the baffle and couldnt use my damaged one and now i'm going back to mine where my old baffle is. He followed me back and i flopped out the baffle from my garage :D  He musta bin really bored or fell for the bull**** lol.

2 inches from the welding on the standard exhaust :drunken: i have no pics but look on other threads it will be there!
id say nearly two inch so the link pipe has something to hold on to, to be specific the recommended size is 4.5/5cm up from the weld if its a pointy
