View Full Version : Age ?!?
How old is the average SV Rider
I'm 23 and look considerably younger is the general opinion.
Nearly everytime I have met up with fellow SV'er people are generally older and I'm the youngest.
So post your age :p
I'm no doubt not the youngest and finding out the oldest will be interesting.

42, been riding since June this year, should definately have done it sooner, already on my second bike, my first being a zephyr 550, but I love riding the SV, hour and half each way, back ache, numb legs, but wouldn't give it up now for anything.

I take great pride in the "YOU'RE JOKING", comments when I tell people that. This is often followed by "I THOUGHT YOU WERE YOUNGER THAN THAT", or even better "YOU MEAN YOU'RE ACTUALLY OLDER THAN ME ???".:smt045:smt045:smt045

And I fear that I must remind a fair few of you of 2 things :-
(1) Youth is wasted on the young (courtesy G B Shaw)
(2) Age is a state of mind - it's just a pity that most people don't realise this until they are over 30 !!

Started again last year in February and my new SV650 is my 4th bike.
1. Suzuki GN250
2. Kawasaki Vulcan VN750

One of the older here at 42, had a DR125 when I was 19 / 20, swapped it for a CR125 and did a lot of off-road with Uncle / cousins, decided to do test last year, kept mentioning it to the wife, kept getting hassle, decided WTF, booked CBT / DAS in April and took it on the chin when I told her :)
Passed my test in July, done 1500 since then commuting into London daily.
29 here - the big 3-0 in November! Eek!

Physically 28-58 (depending on the time of day)
Mentally, oh, about 12...
28 though according to Paws I look older than that. When I was younger people always thought I was older than I am, now it seems it's working against me.
So I'm young compared to a lot of people, but do I feel old compared to being in my early 20s. I'm definately well past being "fresh faced" though and yes I'd much rather listen to Radio 2 on the wireless ;-) than most other rubbish.

Mental age of about 8 - Am I only the person who still, at 30 years old laughs everytime I fart ?!!!!!
I'd much rather listen to Radio 2 on the wireless ;-) than most other rubbish.
Radio 4 for me. I can't stand all that noise 'music' the young 'uns listen to nowadays - and I don't understand Ipods, or iPods, or ipods or whatever they are. Why anyone wants to walk around plugged into blaring music all the time's beyond me!
30 here on the outside, but more like 50 on the inside.

36 I think!passed the test 2 months ago, defo should of done it years ago.But then again there is alot to be said for wisdom. And been grey from 19 i've never been asked for ID.
Let's keep the average up:
Me 37, full bike licence at 21.
Wifey (the SV rider - she won' tlet me have a go in case I enjoy myself too much) 36, full bike licence at 18.
Both working on the principle that although everyone must grow older, no-one need grow up!
I'm 15 so nerr to you old fogeys :p
Ok, not 15 really.
30, and I've been told its downhill from here on :(

22 here. Most people pick me as 25, some say i'm 18. Passed my test 30th April this year and rode my SV 280 miles back home the following Saturday. I'm quite impressed with myself so far. I've done over 5000 miles since then (including going to the TT):p and that's with having the SV as my alternative mode of transport.

39 and almost 40 in a few weeks. 1/2 way there, perhaps.
45, passed my bike test 5 days after my 17th birthday in 1979 - not had a day without a bike since. I have a 26 year old daughter, who rides a GSXR600 K6, and three other kids aged 18, 16 and 14. It's my kids and my bikes that keep me looking and feeling young.
