I'm actually physically and mentally shattered after sitting through those last 30 minutes or so. What a result.

With any luck we can qualify and go on to fail to make it out the group stages as per our previous glory days!

McFaddens goal was just amazing.

The dog shat himself and ran out the back door when I started shouting and screaming and jumping about the room after that strike. :D:D

Portugal 1 - 1 Servia. How nice. And better yet, our beloved (NOT!) manager managed to lose his temper and hit one of their players. Excellent...

Now lets see how we **** it up.

I don't want to tempt fate - or be negative - but this tends to happen to us when the expectation rises too early.

On another note I bet that after years of riddiculing Michael Owen the papers will be his new best friends tomorrow morning. . . . . . . . they'll also be talking about how Scotland's result was a fluke etc etc etc. Cynical I know, but I bet it happens.

[/QUOTE]

I was always a big fan of Heskey when he played for Liverpool. He didn't get a huge number of goals, but that's because he is a totally unselfish player and will always try to set up a player in a better position. Watching him and Owen up front yesterday was like going back in time a few years and watching Liverpool.:-D

I have to say that it was a great night for England, Scotland and Wales, if not for the two Ireland teams. It's a shame that it's only England and Scotland who have a realistic chance to qualify, it would be nice to have all 5teams through.

hmmm

not so sure about heskey last night, yeah played well but not in the top 3 players in me humble. not anywhere near as good as he was on saturday.

MOM was without doubt barry. top performance.

ps no apologies for derailing the jock thread, but well done to them. bravo.

Who would have thought it, beating France home and away! Stunned! Never seen an Away ground look or sound like that either. Incredible.

Faddy is a living legend now, never going to tire of seeing that goal scored from the halfway line;):p

Congratulations to Scotland ... and I don't really think you can call them "underdogs" any more ... played 9, won 7, lost 2 ... that's a record to be proud of when you consider they are in a group with Italy (World Champions) and France (beaten World Cup finalists).

Slight derail ...
Great result for England, and not very often you hear a commentator on an England match uttering phrases like "England are passing the ball around beautifully and at pace, their opponents just can't get the ball off them!".

Oh and as for Heskey & Owen ... John Motson pointed out last night that in the 14 England matches that Heskey & Owen have started together, Michael Owen has scored 14 goals!!!

C'mon England!
C'mon Scotland! Bring back the glory days of '78 and Archie Gemmill :-P
Shame that none of the other home nations have as good a chance of qualifying now :(
Northern Ireland are probably closest but when you look at their remaining fixtures you wouldn't want to put money on it!

I was absolutely stunned when Faddy stuck that ball in the back of the net. I just sat there thinking "...no way, did that actually go in..? FECK ME, IT DID!!!"

well done, good result.

And to all the other Home nations.

Now would you swap our Barry for Hargreeves or Lampard?? tough decision. I would leave him in as Lampard has a hibit of underperforming for England.

Roony and Owen, that i would like to see.

i dont like heskey but i think he brings the best out of owen, lampard over rated, hargreaves good player but dont think he would match the performances of barry, micah richards absolute quality if gary neville gets his place back im never watchin england again.

You OBVIOUSLY dont understand the tactics of the SFA.

The plan it to never actually win the cup.

The true plan is to qualify, thus letting thousands of Scots blokes wave the wife bye-bye for a couple of weeks abroad.

Scotland then MUST be knocked out in the 1st stage of the finals.

It then means that the cash that would be spent on tickets is then available for spending on beer and having a good time in foreign climes.

This can be done safely as you can pretty much guarantee that getting knocked out of the tournament will NOT send the Scots fans on a murderous rampage of violence (look at what happened to thap poor Croydon Tram in the European Cup a few years back) but will encourage better international relations as they have a few more drinks with the locals.

Its all about caring for your fans.

Wheyhey! He's already got a org log in! At one week old he's got to be the youngest member ever =D>

He's not been too bad at all so far, he's very chilled out and easy going. Third night last night and we got a good 3 1/2 to 4 hours sleep at a time. Might get to that Aviemore rideout after all....

Ahh mate classic mistake.

Y'see the first wee whiley the wee fella is really about as docile as it's posible to be. He's still recovering from the big journey. Then all of a sudden he'll realise the connection between him wailing and attention from you both or anyone else within screaming distance. Thus, you're really at the honeymoon stage so to speak.

I ought to mention that this is exactly what I've been warned happens, as opposed to being drawn from my experience. Hence we are quite happy 'practicing' for a good while yet. :smt081

Midwife reckons the "recovery from journey" stage is only a couple of days and hence should be past by the time they come out of hospital, however, from now on he's into the "building strength" stage and that could mean more screaming ability very soon!

Midwife again reckons they don't get the seeking attention thing just yet, but advice from other parents on at how many months they figure that one out at is very welcome!! A book I read reckons 9 months but I think they were just being PC and not wanting to be seen to incourage parents of young babies to "let 'em scream"! The book did say though, let 'em scream undisturbed for 45 minutes 1st night, 30 mins 2nd night, 15 minutes 3rd night, 5 minutes 4th night, and the 5th night doesn't happen 'cos everybodys asleep.

I live day by day in anticipation and hope! The truth in practice could be very different.
