I am new to this site and also to the SV. My bike is in need of a tire change back and front, i am hoping to ride my bike all year round can you guys and girls recommend me a tire for everyday riding during winter and summer that will also hold in knee-down corners. My bike is the naked 650 k2.

Cheers

I have Metezeler Z6's. I really like them, they give me confidence even in the wet and cold. Think quite a few other people on here rate them too.

+1, done a track day on mine too, the only problem i found was that they attract firsty a screw and then broken glass :-s

Ditto Z6's

BT021's also worth a look. In the UK Conti Road Attacks are a cheaper alternative that many people recommend.

i have avon azaros...not so great in the wet (not too bad mind)

do wear down quite quick aswell, there are better tyres out there (i thought this might b helpful in telling you what tyres to avoid rather than everyone shouting "get the same tyres as me...which can happen) Dont get dunlops either, they're all crap!

z6 absolutely rock. i swear by them. i had 8k out of a set on my vtr1000f earlier this year!!!!

they are griooy without the need to wait ages to warm them up and considering they are supposed to be a road tyre the grip they provide is amazing!..

id happily do a track day on a set of z6's :smt045

I've done two trackdays on mine and they're still in very good nic.

Continental Road Attack are V-good too, and about £25 cheaper per pair. Can strongly recommend these if your budget wont stretch to Metzeler Z6.

Morning all.
One tyre that I get great feedback on in Avons new Viper Storm, admittedly I tend to fit these to bike powerful stuff such as Blackbirds & Busas.
I haven't supplied a set for an SV yet, anyone want to try a pair at a knockdown price so we can all get some feedback?

Other than that, you can't go wrong with Road Attacks, or Z6's.

Cheers.

I have Dunlop 208's on mine and so has my mates r6. We Think the are fantastic tyres. Certainly keep me on the road. My mates GSXR has 207's which are slighly better in the wet but slighly worse in the dry.

I don't like 208s, my first SV had them fitted when I got it and they were shocking when cold or wet, compared to michelin road pilots or the pirelli diablos I have now.

For the future be wary if you ever consider fitting just a new rear, especially if it's a different brand. You don't want the rear all of a sudden becoming more grippy than the front or it could be sayonara.

I've done about 2000 miles on my rear Z6 and either three or four trackdays and they're still good for a while yet!

I have the stock 208's on my R6 and i really am not impressed. Sure they are not as terrible as some people make out, but there are way better options. As soon as mine are remotely worn, they're coming off.

D207 and D208s have to be the worst tyres ever sold under the guise of sports rubber ever.

I would have more confidence riding around with a bundle of jellied eels superglued to my rims.
