I saw that park on a TV program once, looks incredible... They had a group of pro riders and a group of casual downhillers riding it, needless to say it was CARNAGE with the less good guys, those hugh trails were a) irresistable and b) quite narrow
I used to be alright. I wouldn't want to hit the raised wooden bits at speed, even when I was at my best, though. No margin for error there.
I think I'd p*** myself on the big slide, though.
there is a big mountain bike place in peebles. i remember stopping for a coffee and cake at the place that does it. quite fancy trying it with the kids. you can hire bikes etc and there are loads of different routes. need to get fit first though. as for the zip wire, did a parachute jump last year to cure my fear of heights. it didnt work

Glentress by any chance? Been there a few times, Mr Wolf is right into his downhill biking (mad fecker :o ) and I just pootle about on the slightly less life-threatening runs. There's plenty of things to do for riders of all abilities.
Oh, and it's worth the trip just for the carrot cake in the cafe... :D
(just don't go alone like my mate Dan did when he fell off the vert ramp and mangled his arm: bust his wrist, broke his shoulder and pushed his radius/ulna right through his elbow into the open air, nasty... :shaking: )
There are big routes up at rge Carron Valley and there used to be a gr8 one up by lennox castle but Celtic stopped that developing

KK - it's glentress at Peebles you're talking about. Its part of the 7 stanes network which spans accross the borders. My sis lives in peebles which is great for staying over and the boozer at night.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J59Lg8DNyI Innerleithen and glentress stuff. My kinda thing but getting to old for this now. Gave up competing 2 years ago.

Gelntress is great but you need to be fairly fit to cycle to the spooky woods section. I know the place like the back of my hand so can be a guide. There's even some pretty cool stuff off the marked trails. I prefer Innerleithen as it's much more challenging but a huge slog to the top.
As a better idea there's the Wolftrax at Laggan. There's a bus that takes you to the top of the run all day long. It's shorter but there's some fantastic jumps on the blue run. The rad has some cool Northshore and the black is super rocky. Full combat gear recommended for the black - full face helmet and elbow knee pads. There's a cafe, showers etc all there just like Glentress.
I'd be happy to arrange something like MTB run/day out.
The go ape thing - I'd love to try. I'm not good with heights at all but I'm sure I'd love it on the day.
right stuarty organise something for next year then, give me a chance to get fit lol

I should be able to ride a mountain bike again by then, so yeah, let's do it! I'll be on the nursery slopes though

Blatant plug, but my daughter is selling White Water rafting (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=96862)tokens for the daredevils amongst you...... There are enough for a rideout group and they are valid until next June

I reckon the MTB day out and the Go Ape day out should both be done
Re the go ape is that a day out place or something to try whilst out

*shudder*
No ta for me, I have a bit of a thing about drowning  especially since my friend nearly bought it in Slovakia earlier this year when the dinghy rolled over the top of her and pinned her to the riverbed... :smt089
At least when I'm surfing I have a six foot long float attached to my leg...;)

Well this ain't Slovakia so you can be assured of fully qualified and experienced raft guides working to a much higher standard of required competance. Did they actually check the qualifications of the raft guides they were going with? What grade of water were they on? Had they been rafting before?..... blah blah etc..... :D
Don't let one bad experience put you off, you might actually love it.

Splash Whitewater Rafting are clients of mine so it's a bit wasted on me.
Anyway...back to mountain biking and go ape.
We can mountain bike all winter long. It's especially braw fun when it's wet and muddy. Or in the snow - hilarious. You lot will need to start getting fit if we're gonna do Glentress or if you cant do without the odd pie or twenty then we can catch the bus uphill at Laggan Wolftrax.
