Next is to make a template from it once I have cleaned the edges a bit to get the other side the same.

Interesting, don't you think it's going to flap in the wind without the rad mount?

Grinch

Well it would only be that bit that would flap, the rest is secured to the front fairing mount, so should be just fine. So I now have a 'quarter' fairing.

Well due to the naff weather its been delayed a tad, though I was out with the compressor and the sander today after working on a Aprilia Caponard to sand the panels down and its looking nice, taking my time though I am. Next I need to plastic weld a few bits and make sure it lines up with the main fairing, maybe sand that to. Hoping to get a few clear days for that next week.

Well here you are a few pics from the weekend testing.

Still a bit unsure as I might need to trim the front below the lights and air scoop a bit more to make the lines flow better.

was the original faring damaged or did you just fancy something different?

Grinch
08-10-07, 08:54 AM
Bit of both really, I was looking to do something different and I had this idea. Though I found out that Ben has beaten me to it, so got some advice off him. Then obtained some panels of someone off this forum for free as they had been mashed up. Then very slowly I pulled my finger out and now I'm at this stage.

whats next in your mind then?

Grinch

I'm not happy with the look of my battery tray at the moment, so might have to re-think it. Plus I still can't figure out why my remote start will not work.

Looks OK, real test would be at 100MPH down your pvt runway...

Good job I don't plan on doing those speeds on it...

I could if I really wanted now, put it all back together and get a MOT, though I think it would be best to wait till next summer.

Will you fit a tall/flip-up screen to it? Looks kinda cool, I think

Matt

Grinch

Nope lookin at cutting down a standard screen as its more a 'street fighter' conversion then a motorway muncher, so I'm not worried about high speed wind blast.

See, I read "Chop, chop, buzz, buzz" and thought "ooh, Grinch must be trying out a new hair-do". Then I read "Been getting busy with me dremel" and thought "yep, definitely a new hair-do". Then I'm disappointed to find pictures of an SV. Yes! On an SV site! You can imagine my disappointment.

Any further pics btw ? I just got me farings on saturday and have been busy with a sketch pad trying to work out a nice shape, btw did you say ben had a similar design ? cos i dont really want to be copying , me being a design genius an all :-D

Grinch
23-10-07, 03:22 PM
Yes he did have the same idea and did it with his bike, but he tired to take it further and now look completely different.
I don't have any more photos are present as I haven't done any more work, I think next I need to put the mudguard and belly pan on to see how it looks before spraying.

Typical, Ive spent days thinking about the shape, the lines, the flow of the whole thing and just realised Ive nearly copied yours :( oh well, back to the drawing board I suppose ;)

When is it gonna be finished? And are you gonna get the dog-bones replaced so's I can ride it? I think I'd prefer riding the streetfightered one as opposed to Scoob's cast-off... ;)

And... JESUS CHRIST LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF POSTS YOU HAVE WHEN YOU'RE S'POSED TO BE WORKING YOU BAD BAD BOY!!!!! IBM are paying you to browse... :smt023

Grinch

I multi-task...
I can lower the dog bones but this bike has a longer rear spring, so it will always be a bit higher. Plus once I get the GSXR front, these risers and Renthals go on Helga.

Get a little more scooped from the seat? I wants to ride it too... Or, the only other sensible option is to BUY ME THE DAMN CAGIVA RAPTOR1000 I'M WANTING!!!! Yay!! :riding::smt041

Grinch
29-10-07, 01:15 PM
But you have a Monster thats all your own... If I scoop more out the seat it will be just plastic...

Plus at this rate its going to be next year! I need a shed!
