:(

Had an off today. On my way into work and filtering past stationary traffic when a driver decides to pull out of the queue without looking for whatever reason (there were no junctions for him to go so it was either impatience or a U turn). I did a pretty good Superman impression and landed on my head. Luckily the Arai lid did it's job and apart from a headache and a sore chest I'm okay. Not sure about the Bike. Broken front brake lever, twisted radiator, twisted forks and slightly bent handlebars. Was rideable once I'd fixed the brake lever but the forks are certainly twisted. Also when I got home I noticed the right disc was very hot while the left was not. Any suggestions, offers of mechanical help welcome! :)

Not sure I can help with the mechanics of it all, but sorry to hear you had an off.

Hope you got all the insurance details of the other party, and you get it sorted ASAP.

Billy.

$hit Dan! Hope you're not too sore :(

Have a search on here for LynW's letter re: her filtering accident. Just in case there are any insurance "issues"

If you need a hand with tools or anything then drop me a PM and we'll see what can be sorted out.

Real sorry to hear. :(
So the right disc is binding - don't ride too far (but it sounds like you know that)

You will go and get it resprayed! tempting fate.

Nasty- sorry to hear the news. Would it be best to get the head checked? If you landed on it and had (or still have) a headache, I'd recommend a doc.

It's more like I feel a bit dizzy. I'm sure I'll be fine but if it's stll like it in an hour I'll ge checked out again. The bike's paintwork is fine apart from a small scratch on the rear plastics, which will be covered when I get the Hornet decals anyway. That's provided it doesn't get written off of course.

The brakes work and they only got that warm after riding it back from the scene (naughty yes I know!) after getting a new brake lever from Chiswick. I have to say there were about 4 people who appeared, seemingly from nowhere, making sure traffic was stopped and that I was okay. Its nice to know that people still care about the safety of total strangers who are in need. Gives me hope in the human race again.

really sorry to hear this Dan
:grouphug:

I'd definitely suggest getting checked out by a doctor to make sure you're OK. Also then it's down on your medical records in case any problems develop later (hopefully they won't though!)

Sounds very much like mine last year. It's gone 80:20 my way (their offer), because I can't be bothered to take them to court. Here is waht I suggest you do.

1. Get checked out whatever. You could have concussion. Can come on later and it's not pleasant. Symptoms include dizzyness, nausea, tiredness - not just blurred vision. If you do have it, you'll need rest - lots of rest.

2. Make sure you get plenty of rest so you can take it easy. Might be best to take the day off. Just in case.

3. Make sure you have witness' details.

4. Tell your insurance company and get them to appoint a solicitor.

5. Make sure your solicitor is aware of a piece of case law called David vs Schrogrin.

Sorry to hear of your off!:grouphug:

Oh dear. Done the right thing by heading to the hospital.

Sounds like concussion to me. I got hit on the hit on the head by a field hockey ball at high velocity. Was fine for a few hours and then went to hospital as I was out of it. Went back to bed and didn't get up for 3 days I think! An amazingly debilitating injury. Don't even think about riding, driving or anything that involves concentration. Even vertigo can make you pass out! I hope you wil be ok and feel better soon.

Er your post is visibly worse than your usual posting quality. Unless its a joke, don't ride/drive, and get to a hospital! Good luck, if you need anything, just call.

Yep, had concussion alright. Felt ****ed! :o

Not good, anyway seem to be on the mend today and my appetitie is back. Now starts the worrying insurance process. If he admits blame all will go well, if he decides to be difficult it might not go so well seeing as the law takes a dim view on filtering. Mind you, the traffic was stationary, I was doing about 10mph and he tried to perform a U turn. I should be okay, finger and toes crossed anyway!

At least your OK :)

If the other guy plays up, adapt the letter I linked to earlier to send to the insurance people. Should keep them occupied ;) Let's hope the guy does the right thing and admits fault though.

Sorry to hear Dan - you must be running close to the .org leader board this year for accidents. I had similar occurance - bloke doing a U turn in traffic and not checking mirrors - its no fun lying on the ground with oncoming traffic.

Hope the heads better and you get the bike healed quickly.

Thought so. You did the right thing by getting yourself to the hospital. Take it easy and get plenty of rest. I were you I would leave the insurance stuff for a day or so until you feel better. I hope you feel better soon!

christened the new paint work then Dan :(

Still glad you're OK and it wasn't the new one, not in a position to help at the moment, but when I've sorted my transport problem out and if you've not done it by then, just give me a shout.

Cheers Mark.
