View Full Version : LouLou down :(
Hi everybody, not been on for a few weeks as life's been a bit hectic...you know how it is!!
I've only been riding since mid-June, some people might remember the turmoil I went thru during my training, and last Saturday (8th) things took a real turn for the worst.
Was on my little YBR125 riding out of Thetford on the A134, going straight over the round about on the A11 by-pass. As I was just about to leave the roundabout I heard the screech of tyres and a car went into the side of my bike :(
The bike went one way and I went the other way, I've got a separated AC joint in my right shoulder...the first thing to hit the ground...and a gammy right knee as well as the usual bumps and bruises. My bike was a lot worse off, think it must have done a cartwheel as the headlight, clocks, mirrors, levers etc. are wrecked as well as the exhaust and most of the other sticky-outy bits
Anyway, the driver stopped and there were a few witnesses...I was following my other half and he saw it happen in his rear-view mirror...I wasn't 100% sure what happened until he explained. My little boy was there too and I think he was quite upset even tho he didn't show it as the air-ambulance and police etc. were involved...one of the paramedics told him he was very brave :D
I was p'd off because one of the first things the driver said was "I didn't see you!" :smt102 Don't know what I'll do about riding now tho...I'd find it easier to deal with if it was a mistake I'd made as you can learn from it but it was just a case of wrong place, wrong time!!

Oh no! At least you are up and able to let the .org know.
Don't let it get you down, heal fast and get back on a bike. It sounds like it wasn't your fault so nothing to dwell on about your abilities.
Get well soon.

that really sucks, not a good confidence booster.
the important thing is that you're ok (ish) - sounds like a cut and dry insurance job on the part of the other driver, especially if he said he never saw you, as that's because he didn't ******* look:rolleyes:
usual stuff, inform insurers etc, get yourself checked out by a medical type person and look forward to getting back in the saddle, the chances of getting in two "wrong place ,wrong time" situations has got to me small;)

I know exactly how you feel.

Oh no!! Hope you heal fast! and yes your son was a brave boy, i know i'd be in pieces if i saw someone come off and i'm an adult!! (no sniggering at the back!!)
Good luck getting things sorted. Get back on a bike as soon as you are able to :) the longer you put it off the harder it will be.

oh knows! hope you get everything sorted
Cheers everybody, the driver admitted liability to the police so hopefull no problems there. I'll take a couple of months to get sorted out but I think I will get back on a bike...not the same one tho...think it's a write off!! I went to the BMF yesterday and picked up a couple of bits which must be a good sign. According to the hospital I'm always going to have a dodgy shoulder but hopefully I'll be better and ready to do my test before next October!!

Oh dear. That really sucks. Hopefully you'll heal soon.
What is going on at the moment. There seem to be far too many people having offs on here at the moment. Ride safely everyone.

Sorry to hear about your crash.
Its only natural to think about jacking it in after an offski, just give yourself some time to think it over and then make your decision.
I'm sure you will make the right one :)
Only just saw this - heal fast LouLou... :)
Maybe its a subliminal message telling you to get on that SV! :D

sorry to hear about this,
your little 'un is a soldier!, i get queasy when i see accidents, god knows how a youngster views it.
sounds like you yourself got off lightly, main thing is it doesnt seem to have knocked your confidence, you go girl! get that test done!
Thanks again for your support everybody!! I'm feeling more positive about getting back on a bike everyday...want to get out on one NOW but I'll have to wait until my shoulder's back to normal and I've got some strength in it...especially if I'm gonna get out on my sv...I could hardly push it out of the garage before the accident lol :D

Get that shoulder better girl and enjoy. It's the most annoying part, waiting to heal but the SV is worth the wait.
