Hope the leg isn't too badly broken. Get mobile as soon as you can, start putting weight on it as soon as your consultant says you can (partial weight bearing they call it) and exercise as much as you can. Don't sit around or it'll take twice as long to fix
show us the X-Rays  - hope it's not as bad as mine (see link in my sig)

Paws, **** me you really arent having much luck are you! get well soon and keep your chin up!!;) dont worry about the bike, it can be replaced. make sure you put in a formal complaint about the standard of the 3rd partys driving (so they get prosecuted!) dont be fobbed off by plod either.
Awful news. Get well soon.

Don't be tempted to claim too early, you've got 3 years. You might have a crash related problem show up in a year or so that has bigger effects on your life than you thought and if you've already settled there's nothing you can do about it.
Get well soon!

Recover well and remember the Buddhists see it this way (very basically)
All desire leads to suffering, but suffering leads ultimately to enlightenment. So, even the hard times are ultimately a path to a good soul.
cheers guys, feeling rather rough at the mo :( feel quite sick and tired, tsm is being a star-helping me learn how to get up and down stairs with crutches and when i cant face it (tired/sick/pain) hes supported me.

Very sorry to hear this. Always particularly scary when a rider is knocked off by a complete idiot with their head in the clouds.
Get well soon. I had a double fracture a while ago and the good news is that you should recover fully in a few months. Take it easy.
Cheers Keith

Lol - I would but I'm going to be pretty busy unfortunately, only back home overnight. Going to be sorting out this CBR I just bought - it's so dirty! (although somehow...and I really don't know how....the downpipes look, well, clean! It's no SV, I tell you :p).
Sorry if I missed it, but what's your ETA for getting back on the road (in terms of injuries I mean)?
Bah excuses excuses lol..
eta on getting on road..no real idea yet but at LEAST not until next year :(

Help me out here guys. I have broken many smaller bones which included making crazy pavment out of left cheek and eye socket, but have never (touching wood here big time) broken a limb.
Is the associated pain like 100 times more than breaking your nose, finger, ribs?
Dumb question maybe but just something I wondered about. I have to say that the most painfull injury I ever suffered was the tearing of an hamstring when at full pace. That was horrendous.
ermmm ive NEVER broke anything before..while bike was on my leg pain scale was about a 8 (1 means cant feel anything-10 is excrutiating), once id had some gas and air it dropped down to about a 5=according to the paramedics i have a v high pain level tolerance!!

I've had a few injuries in my time, mostly sport related. All sorts of breaks/tears/dislocations etc. IMHO tearing a muscle does hurt more than a break. Having said that i discovered an entirely new realm of pain when i ruptured my cruciate ligaments in April. I wouldn't recomend it! :p

mine just felt like a big bruise but as the bone starts to knit the joint rubs and gets tight, its a weird pain but i think a bad muscle tear is worse.
