Having a dilema and could do with some help.

I have decided to change my bike within the next six months. I want to go touring next year and have decided that the SV although I love it is not very practical for taking 2000 miles round Europe.

I would like another Suzuki, simply because Saltire in Edinburgh is the dogs. I am thinking of the Vstrom and the 1250 Bandit, both bigger engines and more capable tourers.

My criteria are as follows,

Touring ability as well as a good all rounder for Sunday blasts
Bigger engine (and faster!)
hard luggage
more upright riding position
comfier seat
better pillion comfort
Budget is Approx 5 grand

Any other ideas or suggestions for bikes that may fit this much appreciated

If you want to tour on a Suzuki I'd have a DL1000 V-Strom, though for touring the DL650 V-Strom would be plenty, sit at 100mph all day and use less fuel.

I'd go with the litre V-Strom, very nice bike.

Consider this?

44000 on mine, 2000-3000mile 2week, two up trips abroad every year. 500mile days are easy (if you have to!). 10 minutes to turn it from a blaster to a tourer (4 bolts for the box and a tank harness). 150mph+ in either guise (err...if you have to!)....and the brakes to back it up. 22litre tank (160+miles). Weight fully loaded is a minus point for some people, but thats what wide bars, a low centre of gravity and big grunt from a tickle of the throttle are for. Bugger all to buy new and low insurance and servicing.

3HardCaseGivis- Bagalux - big daft screens? or Full systems-Yoshi cams-1550cc big bores- Ohlins? You can have the lot( ...if you have to!:p)

Get some test rides in. My only concern about the 14 was going nekkid. If it was comfy at 80mph I was having it.

It was and then some.

Good luck!
