View Full Version : Bar end coming undone?!?
My bar ends keep coming undone :(
Not undone to the point where they fall off, but enough to create a gap between the grip and also enough to the point where its loose enough to tighten it up by hand.
When you tighten it back up, unless you take it off first and play about with the rubber insert it doesnt go back on nice and snug.
Anyone else got this problem or solved it already. :shaking:

Use some loctite (sp?) the vibrations are causing them to loosen.

DO NOT SUPER GLUE YOUR BAR END BOLT IN!
Just get yourself some thread lock. Most halfords & car shops stock them, it will set you back a couple of quid. And don't go overboard with it, just a single small drop on the thread will be enough to stop the bolt coming out and make sure it is easy enough to take it out at a future date.

Thats what i meant Raf and assumed graham would know, loctite make more than just super glue hense the name as in Lock Tight.
My concern with using anything like that is that you risk not being able to undone it, even more so with suzuki chocolate screws/bolts:smt045

Could you get a split/spring washer to fit?
It would need to be the same diameter as the bar ends though or might look a bit crap.

Keep reading about people using Red or Blue on US forums, both compounds made by Loctite over there I believe. Not sure if it's quite the same as superglue, all I know is that the red is much, much more solid (i.e. permanent) than the blue.
Good idea to stop it before it's too late though. I once heard a funny 'tinkle tinkle' in the outside lane of the mway once, thought nothing of it and dismissed it as a phantom sound. Only a couple of days later did I notice the bar end had gone! That's one downside of a V-Twin I suppose, more vibey! Not a cheap bugger to replace either, for what it is
