OK, been chatting to people about the food label system, now for those that know me I'm a scrawny git and don't really care about calories (though I do tend to make sure I'm getting enough, as I don't snack or go mad on puddings / fizzy drinks). Long story short I started checking out packaging for a giggle. Below is a picture of last night's meal a Tesco Finest Chicken Korma with rice....

Lets play top trumps, who can beat this on calories or saturated fat for a single person helping / item of food or drink :D

An expert writes ..........The only ready meals worth a toss are made by
http://www.bighams.com/
This excellent company supplies Waitrose with their branded meals...

I have spent many hours in Food factories having supplied weighing equipment to the trade for some time.
Tesco finest is a deception as is sainsburys taste the difference , they are all made on the same lines as the lesser grade stuff...........The ingredients are very low cost for the most part and whilst none of them will kill you in the short term, the long term is a different matter.
Do not Bernard Mathews anything. Most of the other stores curries are made by Noons in Southall , nice company but its all built down to a price
http://www.noon.co.uk/ .Very clean and well run place. The other big curry man is http://www.sa-foods.co.uk/# not as good as Noon IMHO
Marks and sparks is done by Rowan Foods in wrexham part of Oscar Mayer
not quite as good as Waitorse stuff but not at all bad.

For a real horror story eat NHS food by Tillery Valley http://www.tvf-online.co.uk/................Oh No ..............

PS I am a new member my particular poison is a 1200 Bandit...........

Did you know that most public swimming pools actually have chlorine in them too!??!?111?! I think they should be banned. Didn't they use chlorine in the army? It must be the same stuff. I can't beleive people don't know this, we should educate everyone.

Also we should ban dihydrogen monoxide, they keep putting that in everything, and it is even found in unclear powerstations!!!!111!!1!!

It's actually a pretty funny website (http://www.dhmo.org/). There is a balance between media hysteria and complete acceptance. But when most of the population are scientifically illiterate, what's to be done?

Though as a regular consumer of ready meals I appreciate Blackjack's info. Waitrose it is then.
