Not a bad offer, but I was told to never take the 1st offer.
Remember your excess will come off that and maybe your insurance will be cancelled too.
But if you're happy.:smt023

Fair enough .
Suppose you've seen this one. Bit early moneywise and it's yellow not silver but shows there are some nice curvys out there.

Good money for the thou kwak!! :D
Not that I'm a superstitious person or anything but...
Silver pointy 650.............ouch moment:(
Silver pointy thou............ouch moment:(
For your third bike I'd suggest a black curvy...............the total opposite of both silver AND pointy!:D

I agree. When I was doing DAS I only dropped the silver bike (I passed my test on a green one). Silver bikes are evil.

Tell them you're willing to compromise, so you'll give up biking as long as you can take up base-jumping* or something.
*Substitute for any other 'dangerous' sport if desired.
Alternatively, tell them "it's about the journey, not the destination" if you want to give them a philosophical answer :p

Heheh true...you could try telling them to wait a while before asking you to do that - it sounds like they are having a knee jerk reaction to it, so maybe will calm down.

Surely on your first bike smash you would have had the crash whether you were in a car or a bike? You were ok as well. The second one, I dunno, just promise you will ride safely. At the end of the day, it's your decision. Nice to know they love you though.
i didnt take it straight away but he explained that i'd only insured the sv for 3k so £50 over cant be too bad, my xs is £250.
I was limited by that too!
makes sense to over value when you take it out - don't think it always costs more.
Why not promise your family that you start IAM to put their minds at rest?
With your new found wealth:
Divorce the family, join the Hell's Angels and get money by keeping all their bikes immaculate. I think a "will work for autosol" T-shirt will be helpful.

i think you're right muffles, me walking round in a sling off work dont help much:smt014 i think buying now would only wind them up more i think they need a cooling off period too. when i wrote the last one off i was only without a bike for 2 weeks before there was another one parked in the garage:smt057
I just got my offer through yesterday for my silver SV650S K3 pointy which had 17,000 miles .........£2,500.
I should get another £200 back for my excess, which they've already deducted.
Wouldn't have been able to sell it for £2,500 never mind £2,700, so I'm well chuffed \\:D/

its not all bad then, seems a fair price. mines £2850 with xs deducted k3 1000 with 4.5k on the clock.

Cool, well thats not a bad result for the bike mate.
I know where there is a minter of a GSXR600K3 going. Low milage too!
Now thats a total change from the Silver/SV theme.
bu@@er i've left my tax on and my optimate harness:(
How much tax?
Can apply for a replacement for £7? & cancel that.
Should've bought the scrap.
Is it still at the garage?
Give them a call about the tax/charger harness. I'm sure they'd oblige by taking them off for you. If they're reluctant to do so, play on your current 'mobility problems'. ;)

Mrs UKI and my parents were the same Kwak after my off, but they've come round now. My mum was talking to a biker nurse in hospital and she said why should he give up something up that he loves, particulary when it wasn't his fault. It's obviously different in your case though with kids to think of, not sure what I'd do in that situation, but i'm sure they'll come round when your back on the road again and at least you only ride in really decent weather and aren't doing big mileages on the bike. Good offer on the thou aswell mate

Forgive my stupidity, but what now?
You get the SV1000 back AND you get the £3,000 from the insurance, and you fix up the thou' using the insurance money?
Nice little project whilst your collar-bone heals ;-)
Get someone else to rebuild it for ya (whilst you watch n learn), and then by time it's "sorted" you should be healed enough to Autosol it to "atomic blast white-out" proportions ;-)

You were expecting the family war when we spoke in Betws just after the off. Follow the wise words you said yourself & give them time to come around. If they don't ride themselves, they'll never see your point of view.
Good news on hopefully getting the thou back, it'd make a good project.

All kwak needs to do is explain that the insurance company are making him, MAKING him, take the bike back. So what else will there be to do other than keep it?!

i don't mind cat c or cat d but i wont be keeping the bike anyway, i've had some intrest off here for the whole lot of failing that i'll do her up myself or break her to make abit of ££ back and give me something to do over the winter. the assessor said about £950 - £1000 ish for the bike and i recon i can have her back to normal again for about £500.
should see her again thursday.
