Just started watching this over the past few weeks and totally loving it so far! Rye house and Coventry bees teams brilliant! and sky's coverage is really good and for someone into this more than me just now must agree it must be doing a lot of good for the sport so far, i suggest anyone wanting something to watch this weekend to keep any eye on sky sports, sit down and watch some on the edge of your seat stuff.
Yep have watched it on occasions. went to see my local team Poole Pirates, great fun although you do get covered in dirt (my fault for standing on a corner:D)
seen it on sky, & i think newport(south wales) have a team?
Very popular in Swindon, everyone talks abotu it at work.
Been meaning to pop along one night but keep forgetting.
I think Swindon is one of the bigger tracks so would definitely be worth a trip.

I love speedway, we used to go all the time when Edinburgh were still based in Edinburgh... But as is the way of things, Powderhall had houses built on it, and now the Monarchs race at Armadale, at a track whose facilties barely even include a track. Sigh. Les Collins ftw... I prepared for my first CBT by going to the speedway the night before- seemed the perfect preperation for spending all day going in circles in the practice yard. Then half the field got hospitalised, and the meet was stopped after 14 races because they'd run out of ambulances. :smt108 It's been too long since I went, though. Should sort that out... I'd sooner watch a good speedway meet than Moto GP.

I saw the world championship finals in Poland (only on TV, sadly). Absolutely superb and the hilarity aspect of the winners doing a parade lap around the oval on the back of Goldwings was spectacular.
I learnt to ride in the car park of the Swindon speedway. :D
I have been a Swindon fan since the early 80's. I was up there on Monday night watching the first leg of the Elite League Final.
I think Sky do a very good job with their coverage. They had a load of cameras there and it was amazing watching it all in slow motion from different angles when I got home.
Everyone in the crowd was swearing at Scott Nicholls during heat 15 because they were convinced he had taken down Richardson but on TV you could see it all.
Been to about 50 tracks in the 30 years I've been watching the sport, but not in the past couple of years when they've really been screwing up the rules.

At Powderhall (old Monarchs ground) the winners did a lap on a tractor :smt025

I was in the queue last night to see Dimmu Borgir, and the guy behind me was an aussie living in the UK, turned out he was a pro speedway racer. He races for Essex something, near Dartford I think. Name was Adam. I think. Anyway, lovely bloke.

Yeah i watched the swindon vs coventry 1st leg and loved it, i know when i get the bug about something that its going to become a passion and speedway's going to be cracking.
Going to spend the last few weeks left in the season to understand the rules and then get ready for the start of the season next year.
From what i hear so far there is a massive re-surgance of fans and interest in the sport and you can see it with the foreign riders coming to ours shores to race.
Any pointers on top teams and riders with a little bit of history thrown in would be appreciated.
btw Northy if you want to arrange some speedway nights and get the rest of the ecosse posse on board with this give me a shout.

Going to watch it with a mate on Monday night in Reading. They have teams? Eh?
Time to read up methinks.
:)
They have teams?
Not on Monday - it's the traditional 16 rider 20 heat individual meeting format with an added final for the top 4.
