Not trying to annoy you or anything mate, but IMO the price is too high. Yes it has a good mileage on it...buttttt.... the bike is sorn, you need to state for how long, cos then its been rotting away wherever you keep it(joking on that).

I bought my mint 99 SVS for £1800 and it has had a fair few mods on it compared to yours (see sig). I know there arent many miles. It may kieep your price up for a while.

Pictures and a few more details may help...Tyres running(do they need changing), last time spark plugs, oil, air filters were changed. Service history receipts, assuming there wont be too many of those.

Been silly here but doesnt the bike been Sorn mean that it hasnt had an MOT, if it doesnt mean that then put how long is left till that runs out.

Also add to factor that winter is around the corner bikes arent as popular with some, and even i noticed last year how prices drop through winter.

Maybe stick it on ebay, you may get what you want on there. Like i say its all strictly IMO, you can read this and think watta c0ck but i'm only advising and trying to help ya mate.

Upload some pics too.

Plowsie

Edit: Someone will come along and tell me i was talking rubbish in a sec too lol.

no you did'nt, but the people were only trying to help you sell your bike, which IMO is atleast £500 overpriced but you did not ask for my opinion or any advice, so you can have that bit of advice for free

5000 miles on a 7 year old bike? & sorn? has it been sat in the garage for the last 5 years?

has it any MOT?

ps. welcome to the madhouse

If you take a look at his join date it says Feb 2007 which is 7 months gap actually. He's just a lurker or doesn't frequent the forum as much as we do.

TBH I can see why he's p**sed off with us filling his thread as some of the advice here isn't helpful, but some is.

Yes, he could be a little bit courteous in his replies though. Something like "I am just trying to sell my bike, please refrain from posting if you are not interested. Thank you" I think everyone here has got off on the wrong foot.

in my defence i was not going to comment on the price until he started slagging off people.

then i only suggested it was overpriced

& asked for piccys to see how good it was

i also enquired as to if it had any MOT & why the low milage?

thanx

ps look at all the free BUMPS its getting

No you have'nt offended me but others have,i don't consider the advice was given in a friendly way,has i have said there are other bikes for sale on here .similar age more miles and price, but no one interfered with there sale,i dont have any interest in computers or spend much time on them,so i dont know how to post pics,so i was going to ask my mate to post them when he gets back from holiday but wont bother now. Hovis the bike was never £2000 so wrong again, your right about this forum its not for me, its left a nasty taste in my mouth ,this will be the last post i put on the site

Alright guys, I can see no-one's bothered reading the 'Guidlines' thread located at the top of the For Sale section...

Guidelines (http://forums.sv650.org/announcement.php?f=113&a=62)

Here's the part in question:

Unsolicited Advice

Any advice you may have in relation to items for sale, for example guidance on asking price, should be sent by PM unless the seller has specifically solicited this advice.

People tend to be sensitive to advice of this nature from complete strangers and often take it as criticism. These guidelines are in place specifically to stop this sort of thing happening. Read 'em. :smt066

So, can we please stop with the catter-walling and apologise to kitaco kid?

Ahthanguverymuch. :)

Ok, first off I think I may be partly responsible for this situation, when I quoted plowsie on fri nite I did it from work and the p.c., s there will not allow emoticons, if it had allowed me to use them there would have been one of these :D or one of these ;) in the post. So basically it might have appeared to a stranger that I was just telling him what to do when in fact I was genuinely trying to be helpful, anyone that knows me will tell you that, however if yet another apology is required along with the one I have already posted in this thread and the one which I sent him last nite via a pm then so be it, sorry mate genuinely trying to be helpful I aplogise unreservably if my comments caused offence, incidentally my offer of meeting at Millenium this morning was a genuine offer.

i sent him a pm last night as well, but as i told him, he has been a member for quite a while, he should be able to take a bit of banter

when i was selling all my SV bits razor said i was having a larf asking the prices i did, but it all went so:smt019to razor

tis a grey area offering friendly advise to would be sellers..especially if you dont know them and you have NO way of anticipating how they will interpret anything said.

:offtopic:

if i remember the best wording is

you can please some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time, but never all of them all the time.

when in doubt ask questions first and then shoot later....:smt071

fizzwheel

he should be able to take a bit of banter

If this thread were in idle banter, then yes I agree, but its not its in for sale, Ping has already explained the correct etiquette for this section so make sure that well follow it.

Remember one mans banter is another ones insult. Personally if you guys had spammed one of my for sale threads like that then I'd be pretty annoyed about it to.

I dont care whether he's a newbie or somebody thats been around for ages, everybody should be being treated the same.

If you've got nothing nice or constructive to say, or you can't word it in such a manner that does not cause offence then you should stay out of the thread, especially if its not your item for sale.

You wouldnt ring up somebody who advertised their bike on autotrader and say. "I'm not interested in buying your bike, but its £500 over priced so you'll never sell it" would you, No so dont do it on here. Its rude and impolite, So knock it off.

Thanks

Fizz
