For the sake of the old and bald (remember you'll all be that one day) I'm proposing that we look for an alternative venue with sufficient indoor seating and parking to use throught the coming cold winter months.

All those in favor?

Sounds good to me. Would be good if it was somewhere easy to get to from the M4 too.

I keep thinking that the Weatherspoons in Temple would be good, foods okay and 2 meals for £6 or something. Pretty sure bikes can't be parked out front though.

Then there's Quincey's at Filton - bikes can be parked out front- foods pricey-ish for what you get and it's mainly fried. Easy to get to as it's not in town centre.

What about the Ostrich on the quay at Redcliffe. Was refurbed a while back and seems to have a cheap menu. Think plenty room for bikes, but you may not be able to see them from windows. Its actually quite hard to think of somewhere that ticks all the boxes when you add in the parking issue.

Vix and I had a bit of a think and a tour around to look for a suitable venue.
The one that came out tops is the "Fox Den (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/234256)" at Stoke Gifford.

Very easy to get to, plenty of room inside, food is good, plenty of parking etc.
The only thing it doesn't have is female students in short skirts - so bring your own!

For a better map and directions from M32 J1 go here. (http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&ss=yp.fox%20den&cp=51.507668%7E-2.555666&style=h&lvl=19&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=4244139&rtp=pos.skhv4sgspb3z_J1%20M32%7Epos.skj4fpgsm89b_F ox%20Den%20Pub&sp=Point.skj4fpgsm89b_Fox%20Den%20Pub___%7EPoint.s khv4sgspb3z_J1%20M32___&encType=1)

I suggest we give it a go this coming Thursday, if we don't like it we can try somewhere else.

Seeing as I'm unlikely to make it that often cos of work I guess my vote won't count so I've not voted. But the Fox Den looks easy to get to so I'm up for that. Also less speed scameras on that route for me in the once in a double blue moon chance that I make it ;)

I voted no. I like the Welly, I can walk to it from my house, which I was planning on doing now that my circumstances have changed. So I can drink something besides orange juice & soda.
At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, it's not cold if you sit inside, and there's plenty of room if you get there before 7:00. The food is usually good, everybody knows where it is. Er, did I mention that I like it.

I don't see enough reason to move to some plastic pub, if we can fix the problem by having a couple of people turn up half an hour earlier to baggsy a table. When I were a lad Mofo Thursday started at 6:00 , grumble grumble.

I could (sometimes) get to the Welly before 7 if that's any help.

Based on previous performances all are best advised to wear water proofs throughout.

As for the motion before us...

I like the Welly also, the foods nice and its not a bad atmosphere. Although it can be a bit pricey and parking can get a little tight. To be honest although the Roo was crap, and the food was like Russian Roulette with every barrel loaded, I didn't mind it that much.

As for the temperature outside, were bikers, were 'ard. Or as suggested we can get there earlier. I know that I helped move the time back due to my consistent late arrival due to work commitments, but often I am able to get there earlier now, but I'm not sure for how long and all that.

I'm not a fan of the plastic pub, I'm more of an old man pub man but fear that I'm digressing here. I'm not going to vote on this yet and not just because I like the feeling of sitting on the fence, I'm easy (spread the word) and will go with the general population to a point, and am willing to try something different. So if the opinion is to try this Fox Den this week then so be it. I won't be there but thats unrelated, so based on the reviews I will cast my vote weakest link style. But be forewarned I'm swaying to staying at the Welly.

The final thing I would like to add is I don't want the meet to be at a different venue every week, we need to make a decision and stick with it.

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE ROO?

i have heard many a good tale from the mofos antics at the roo

Roo: Food was ****e and it's very central, making it difficult for people to get to if coming from outside Bristol. However, the food *may* have improved since we were last there, and it does have parking in its favour.

Welly: Shortage of seating unless there early, expensive but good food (if it arrives and if they have what you want). Limited parking. A bit grotty. Central -ish location.

Fox Den: Focusses more on food than drink. Good Parking and easy to get to.
Should be no shortage of seating. Chain "plastic" pub.

IoG: Same as Welly in many ways, CAMRA, locals, parking but increased chance of theft.

I've just remembered that I'm not going to be turning up wherever we go this Thursday. Got a prior engagement I'd forgotten about. So you'll have to make do without me.
