Going on from that other post.. Something I started on a few cars sites, got some quite interesting results from those not to scared to bear all...

What are your other hobbies apart from bikes.

Im into cars in a big way, motor-racing, although I guess watching it isn't a hobby?

Model railways, suprising the number of bikers on the sites tbh, but i've recently boarded up the loft and laid baseboards in preperation for a big model raiway (about 4m x 3.5m).

The tinternet, its a hobby i should get away from some more  BUt working in IT doesn't help. I work in IT, but that deffo isn't a hobby...

Eve-Online again, online computer game, I really shouldn't have started it up again, arrrggghhhh obsession....

Track days as and when I can afford them. Also like going to car and bike shows.

What he said.

I produce and DJ (properly, not just in my bedroom, I have a designated studio room and everything) I have 2 bits of equipment to build over the next couple of months that should make a big difference in my studio. I've mainly into dubstep, minimal techno, dub techno and berlin techno. My background is mainly IDM (please don't ask what that stands for, it's embarrasing) and ambient though. I like a lot of the more mainstream electronic genres of music too, things like chemical brothers, prodigy, death in vegas etc. as well as a fair bit of drum and bass and hip hop. Hardly stereotypical "biker music".

My favourite thing I like doing is a weird combination of DJing and playing live (a bit like Ritchie Hawtin does for those who have heard of him), on a big system, with a VJ and an open minded crowd, but who don't normally hear "this sort of music". There's nothing more enjoyable than having a handful of people who go away from a night having had their taste in music irrevocably changed by what I've played that night and coming up to me at the end of the night to find out the names of some of the artists I've played. When it all goes right, I actually (and this may be deemed heresey), enjoy it more than biking. :)

I'm also reasonably into swimming, hill walking, books, philosophology and old videogames. I don't mind a night on the sauce with good company, but I don't really deem that a "hobby". I'm a reasonably keen cook and mainly make various curries from scratch (no ready made sauces/pastes). Music is the main thing though...

Woohoo, I had a model railway when I was young. I think it was more cos my Dad wanted one, he kept buying me the stuff and playing with it. It grew impressively big though! HO scale, mainly Fleishmann rolling stock.

Nowadays, aside from biking, I play guitar in a band, I organise an extreme metal night in Birmingham, I love listening to heavy and extreme metal, I play squash to try to keep fit, I love PC games, I have a large collection of underground gore and zombie films, I am a member of the National Trust, I love hiking, camping, nature, survival, technology and tactics of the army, and I love Pre-Raphaelite art.

Bit of a mixed bag :)

I do a lot of reading and I enjoy photography when I get the chance. I've just started swimming again after being injured. I used to do taekwondo but it's taken a bit of a back seat for the moment cos I've been a bit injury prone this year and don't want to hurt myself again. When I'm back on the road, my main hobby will be biking again :)

i dont really have time for a hobby. I work full time, have 2 kids (spend a lot of time driving them about), go to muay thai kickboxing once a week, sign language course at college another night. rest of time is spent doing housework, gardening, fixing stuff, washing etc. If I do have any spare time I enjoy reading a good book. Hate shopping for food and for clothes.

Interesting how very few people have mentioned football as an interest.

Is it just my imagination or are the majority of bikers not interested in it?

Anyway mine are:

Internut surfing
Cars - driving and spannering
Film and TV
Photography - although I don't do as much as I'd like
DIY - excluding painting
Reading - anything
Scotch Whisky - fussy
Cognac - fussy
Champagne - fussy
All other alcohol - not fussy

Other than biking:

As many of you know i produce a lot of pictures using photoshop, becoming more of a business rather than a hobby now which is where i wanted to go with it :) I also do a lot of photography and hoping to take some courses in it soon, just trying to find the right one that will suit what i am looking for.

Another hobby is running the dogs.... a little video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFYvRutjjz0) We're training up for our first Rally, its a 3 or 4 mile run got a long way to go as we are only running about 2 miles non stop at the moment.

I also do a lot of work for Alaskan Malamute Rescue, recent stuff has been making fund raiser t-shirts which have sold like hot cakes lol. some recent designs:

http://static.flickr.com/1048/1442803425_cd181bff19_d.jpg (http://flickr.com/photos/52837090@N00/1442803425)

I will be getting more involved with rescue, when i am needed, doing home checks (which basically involves an interview with the prospective owners and taking my mad mutt round there and setting him loose on them lol).

We also go camping quite a lot, last weekend we were in the New Forest with the Malamutes :) did an 11 or so mile walk on the Saturday, so Walking has become a bit of a hobby too. On a good day we do between 3 and 5 miles... depending on where we go. Less so now Lupo is in training as he just doesn't need the extra walks after running on the rig/scooter.

Other normal hobbies include reading, playing computer games, going to the cinema, but my favourite activity out of everything i do.... is snuggling up on the sofa with my gorgeous blokie watching a good movie and drinking a nice glass of red wine and eating popcorn :D

Well, other than bikes and tinkering my other hobbies are:

My guitar, it's a 1979 Ibanez Artist which i've owned for roughly 10 years now, but have been playing around 17 years.

Military history, mainly World War one & two, the weapons, the politics causes and effects etc.
I'm also interested in Medieval history, the crusades and ancient Rome etc.

Ancient Egypt, only been interested in that since I travelled there, Luxor/Thebes.

Guns & militaria, used to belong to a gun club, but then they all got shut down, all I can do now is polish my deactivated AK74M and read about them.

Languages, used to learn Japanese but now slowly learning German.

PC gaming, though can't play for long at the moment due to developing a bit of RSI in my index finger, been playing since I got my spectrum+2.

Cosmology and the universe, such an amazing subject and mindblowing, like:
There's a massive area of emptyness in space that's just been discovered that is 1 billion light-years across (no stars, planets, no anything) .
It'd take light 1 billion years to travel across that distance, light travels @ roughly 186,000 miles per sec.
One light-year is roughly 6 trillion miles, that area of emptyness is roughly equal to 6 billion-trillion miles or 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of 'absolute' emptyness, big eh?...

And some other stuff...

Alot of my time was taken up aimlessly wandering around mountains n woods n stuff with my dog - injury has kinda put that very much on the back-burner for the past couple of years. The same with archery, LRP, climbing, greenlaneing, climbing trees andn mooching round the market. :(

I like history - any history, but particularly military - but that's more of an interest than a hobby - one fueled by TV and books.

My leatherworking started out as a hobby, but now pays the bills - luckily I still enjoy it just as much.

My passion for horses and riding (from childhood) has resurfaced and I'm taking that one to University - hopefully going to combine it with the leatherworking and history in the future and move into making historic saddlery/harnesses/barding etc.

My greatest hobby for total relaxation, unwinding and getting the troubles of the world to bugger off for a bit is still working with my bonsai trees. It's artistry, horticulture and meditation all rolled into a twiggy little package.
Though it has been an indication of, personally, an overall 'good' year in that I've left them get a bit neglected of late.

I love books - not just reading them, but books as 'things' and collect old & unusual ones when I can both find them and afford it. Pride of place going to my first and second 'Indian Paper' editions of Lord of the Rings & my leatherbound version of The Watchmen.

I really ought to start sketching again too, but just don't find the time.
