i answered a thread a few days ago asking how painful broken bones were can't seem to find it now tho? i answered something like "not very painful, a pulled muscle is worse" how wrong could i be? last night don't know what i did but i couldn't move:confused: the most pain I've ever felt, i got the wife to get me double dose of pain killers which helped;)
my question is "when bones are mending is it normal to get these heavy bouts of pain?"

Why don't you go back to the fracture clinic and ask the consultant?
FWIW when I broke my pelvis - well obviously they couldn't cast it. But it was 6 weeks before it started healing properly, I could then use one crutch only, but it was tiring because the muscle had wasted a bit. It was 8 weeks before I could do very much, and 3 months before I could walk properly as in properly properly.
in a word kwack-YES
I get them at the mo even though legs in cast, some points its been that bad ive cried and not wanted to move/put weight on it.

well as normal as it gets? pain free today.:)
I have broken a few bones and each time the initial break never hurt that much, just numb....probably due to shock...
Re-alignment and the prolonged piercing aches whilst your healing up are the pain the posterior.
I always found it would be starting to feel ok, and then you would knock it or move awkwardly stretching the fresh bone......AAHHHHHHH the pain memories

Nah Kwak. I think that actually inside your head the following happened:
"Bike dirty. Must get home to clean bike. No-one look at bike. Look away. It's filthy. I'm a bad person. Must get home to clean bike. Hmmm, autosol. Soothing autosol. cleansing autosol."
;o)

yea your probably right:)
Impressive to get home in that state.
I can only begin to imagine the pain as you were trying to take off your leathers, I have to wriggle and twist out of mine and to do that with a snapped collar bone :smt089:smt088:smt096:crutches:

Kwak,
What did the fracture clinic say about healing bones? Do they hurt when healing?
Last week I had a painful week with my arm, figured also must be healing so I was very happy. Until Saturday, I jolted it and put all my weight on it when my alarm went off when I didn't want it too, I shot up, leant on my arm I haven't moved for 6 weeks tp grab my phone, got back into bed and felt an almighty shooting pain, I then realised I had in fact straightened my arm and probably gone back to square one :(
ThenI took my puppy a walk with my fella, he went to fetch puppies sister who slips her lead, I put my puppy in my bad hand and try to grab his sister, when he decides he wants to run after her, ouch again. Will I ever learn.

fracture clinic tomorrow shelly i'll let you know.
Shock is a amazing thing-
I managed to phone (very calmly) my work, tsm, runt and my best mate whilst laying on floor with broken leg.
My mate andy broke his collarbone-didnt realise it! drove up here that night to see me, decidid to go hospital at 4am as it started to hurt to be told he'd very badly broken it.
Shock is also one of the biggest killers at accident scenes supposedly.
A local lady here died after being hit by a bike, not from the collision though, the bike took off the lower part of her leg, she looked down and saw she had no leg, went into shock and had a heart attack. :(

I think I will pay my fracture clinic a visit before my next visit in 2 weeks, I am in alot of pain, when i move my wrist my upper arm feels like its moving inside and I get pain. When I move my shoulder I am in pain, alot more than at the start 6 weeks ago..... ahhhhh not good I fear.
He is hoping they will see me early and I can have an operation, I am bored and work want me back as soon as, only got 4 months of being paid left.

Lets have a joint prayer .... the "please let our bones heal" type of prayer.
Man - this is one seriously reality checking thread. You seriously hardcore people.
I have just read it for the first time and started wondering whether a nice comfortable focus (or similar) might be a decent alternative to the perils of biking.
Are we all mental for putting ourselves through it?
You lot take care of yourself and get better soon.

That was 12 months ago and thankfully my wrist is now pretty good but the collar bone hasn’t healed and the top of the bone is loose :(
I can also confirm that these breaks REALLY hurt.

Go and see your GP.
Mine made me a appointment to have another Xray and im now waiting for the radiographers report, the fact that its been a year since i did it might have meant i got speedy action though.

The collar bone is a pain to heal because it’s so difficult to immobilise :(
My problem was that i broke my left wrist and right collar bone so to do anything for my self (go to the loo) i had to use my right arm which meant my collar bone kept moving and never healed properly.
