Im Confused..

I get taxed paye on the car allowance i recieve,yet i also seem to get a NI refund from this, is this because i dont pay NI on the car allowance?

Any inform appreciated...

have done a quick google but alas no avail!

If it's your car, I think you can claim tax relief for business mileage (I know you can). Something like 40p/mile for the 1st 10K miles, 25p/mile thereafter. That may vary depending on engine size and fuel.

NI refund? Haven't a clue!

PAYE on travel? Never ever. If you are employed (I presume you are not self - employed) than IMO that's wrong. You should submit claims to your employer for your millage and get you expenses paid directly to you bank. As you incure those expenses on business you already got taxed on that (so if I understand your case correctly you are double charged).

I am not tax advisor but someone on this forum was (Lynn I think was here name ... havent heard from her for a while).

PAYE on car allowance (i.e. in lieu of co. car) is normal. NI refund on it confuses me to! - I would keep quite :lol:
