Hovis wouldn't be nearly so prolific if this forum used the same sorts of rules as another forum that I am a member of (sadly it's a work-related forum). On that forum, your post count does NOT increase unless you contribute something meaningful. So for instance there are threads that are "off topic" (e.g. jokes) which do not contribute to your post count. Also any replies that don't actually contribute something useful (much like Hovis posting just saying "yup" or "Good morning") would not count either.

But who cares :-P
