Morning all.
OH NO! NOT ANOTHER WHICH OIL POST!.....I'm sure you lot ask this in the hope that it'll start a handbag flinging contest between us Techy types on here:D
The answer is EITHER! As long as it's a good quality one, for there are pro's & con's with both.
Cheers.
P.S. My preference is for fully synthetic, but I have to whisper it, for the handbag brigade might hear me!:o

Chip fat. Used chip fat ideally, the crunchy bits help the clutch to bite, cutting down wear. And it smells lovely. At the end of a long ride, just drop in a chip on a string through the filler cap for a minute, and have a snack.

oh dear. I've been using factor 4 tanning oil (coconut flavour) in my SV...is that bad?
Smells great on the overrun tho...

factor 4' a little low on the protection front, I'd be using something higher...
I'm currently using linseed oil, keeps everything waterproof :)

People have had svs that have gotten to over 100K that have only been run on car oil for a significant part of their life. Whilst I'd probably not do that (although I have used it for 500 miles as top up oil in an emergency when nothing else was available), it would suggest the SV isn't as strict about what oil is used in it as, say, an Aprilia RS250. So personally I'd not worry unduly about the difference between semi and fully syn. I run semi-syn in mine, but only because I lunched a clutch by 10K miles when it was on fully syn and it may have contributed to the clutch slip (although I'm sure the clutch was poorly adjusted too).

That depends, it varies according to which sort of oil you use. I prefer to soak (marinade?) it in coconut oil overnight first.
