I'm not too keen on overly loud cans, I like a balance of the two, but prefer exhaust note over loudness anyday.

I took the baffles outta my CCC can the other day.
They were tiny little things the size of egg-cups, I was really surprised.
They wern't the regular long baffles with holes in, just very tiny wee things, like egg-cups, anyone elses CCC baffles like that?
My bike was never LOUD, and even with the baffles out, it still isn't LOUD, it just sounds deeper and you can feel it through your chest.

On the DB scale they arent!. My racebike with full M4 system is 98db's!!!. Was surprised by that.

The loudest can on an SV i have ever heard was a Yoshimura RS3. I think he got pulled off track at Brands as it was that loud!

Ian - hope the bikes still good!. Mine sold and off to its new home tommorow....will miss it...

how is the bike tested for the noise levels sarah?

i want to do some track time on an english track but i'm put off by the stringent noise restrictions and my noisy m4.

Static noise test to ACU rules. 5500rpm.

Your exhaust will be fine. Plenty of minitwinners out there with them and i dont know of a single one thats been over the 105db limit.

The loudest can on an SV I've heard was the stubby Stu had on his sv...

lissa and pete's stubby on their sv:) ART cans are loud but its finding one now.

I like quality of sound over volume. Pete and Lissa's can is loud and crackly, which I like. Stu's is too loud and hard edged for my taste. Stu's short pipe affair is probably the loudest SV I ever heard!

For the best sound, my twin Renegades were the best, but then I'm biased.

note to self: Get some noise makers on the VFR!

Well, if you end up buying a curvy, Daz, we have a stainless ART can sitting in the spare room;)

ART are irrationally loud, it's like they've got little speakers in or something :D Stu's Akrapvic non-silencer is probably louder, but I'm not sure it counts.

Our ART can was definitely loud, but it had a nice tone to it too. The stubby is louder though, and I like the sound of it.:)

loudest production "road legal" pipe, but with baffles out? i'd suspect the scorpion street extreme would be up there, it's straight through from where you cut the pipe, only the tubing for the last 9 inches is holed and outside it there's a token effort at some packing. it's louder than an SV with a micron full system and a TL with twin race cans, both non-road-legal but full sized cans

i guess each to their own with the quality over quntity argument, i like the raw growl of the shorter can but i can also appreciate the woofle that some cans give.

any audiophiles here? perhaps a noise meter at the next AR? i'll put the street extreme in for a bid to win the road legal catagory;)

Really, 98db's? Thats what I have on my racebike too. Maybe its an illusion. It is just such a deep resinateing noise.

Dont care how loud it is really..... Sounds MINT!!! :p

ART cans are loud but its finding one now.

A local business to me still has thousands of ART cans and link pipes for nearly every bike going....I nearly bought one for the SV, he bought ALL of ARTs stocks when they went bust and the rights to the name and making equipment as he plans to continue manafacturing when he runs out of stock.

There is a VFR at Claycross Powersports with twin acropovics :o[-o< you need some:smt045

On another note I have a titanium blueflame with twinports and with both baffles out it is stupidly loud......wether it is coincidence or not but house alarms down my road kept going off when I first put it on, it now has the main baffle in and the small one out which is much less harsh, still sets off eve factory car alarms on overrun.

try Beowulf performance products there a british family company and give a lifetime guarantee but i wouldn't recommend putting a carbon can on an SV as the power pulses can rattle them to bits
