Do I win? Do I get a prize? :D

Trundling along down a fave strech of road on the way back home, it's an odd one, it's the one stretch that tends to provoke head shakes and I'm not quite sure why, it's a little bumpy but not too bumpy, high speed, and gentle right hander. Anyway, long story short, concentrating hard, perhaps a bit of trying to push limits, and perhaps a bit of concentrating more on the handling than surroundings, spotted Big Bird on the other side of the road and headed my way.

Chose not to alter my line, knowing pheasants curious ability to home in on any chosen escape vector, and aware of that stretch of road not taking too kindly to anything other than smooth input.

And low and behold, it ran right into me, big smack from the front, briefest of checks saw the mirrors filled with an explosion of feathers, followed by very cautious end to the commute.

Truth be told, I was a little dissapointed to find my only spoils of the war were a feather glued on (best not to think too much about what was the glue eh?) to a fork leg :(

So, prizes? Adolation? Beer/drugs?

Someone at our office had the cheek to put in an hours O/T claim and state the reason as 'Attacked by a pheasant whilst on duty"

You can't claim to be a true pheasant killer until you have totally destroyed one with your head at 60mph (officer!) and ended up with whiplash and concussion!:-D

I heard of one guy who wa hit full whack into this chest. Broke a couple a ribs.
Only because it knowkced him off his bike!
Apparently it flew directly at him.
Me thinks the pheasant was a victim of the looming effect

If it helps my cause any I did notice this morning putting my boots on that I do have a couple more trophies, big red smear on the side of my left boot.

Obviously I realise that kicking a pheasant at 60mph (officer) isn't anything like as impressive as head-butting one. I'll endeavour to try harder in future.

So are we agreed, the order of noteriety in the Country Lane Olympics is:
Bambi butcher
Pheasant headbutt
Pheasant punt
Squirrel splat
Bug batter

Aren't all birds idiots - quick continuethe funny start before they all think you're just being sexist - otherwise they'd rule the world or something

Good list but you also have to add the bunny bump and the pidgeon wack!

I am working on the motorway equivalent as I already have competed in the discipline of 'screen spearing', which involves being hit by a piece of wood which has blown off the roof of a van!

Such a nice day up here took the afternoon off and headed for the hills, on my way back making good progress and this phezzy runs in front of the bike and takes off! All I saw was this fat birds rear end getting closer and closer flapping for all its worth until it struck my shoulder. Wasn’t too bad as it was flying away from me but still felt like someone thumping me. Would have stopped and had it for me tea but I remember some odd rule about if you hit it you cant keep it’s the next person who comes along that gets to take it home for the pot! :smt117 Anyway carried on home at a more bird friendly speed

Bambi was the most spectacular one, and I must ask why didn't you pick it up? They taste lovely!

The law states that you are not allowed to claim anything you hit and kill, but the next person along can quite legally pick it up.

I did ask our mate Dave, who was riding behind us, why he didn't pick up the pheasant I hit, and apparently there were two reasons.

1 He was too busy trying not to fall off his bike laughing:D

2 There wasn't enough left of it to make even a decent pasty:D
