Does it not crumple, to make sure that it does not pierce when impacted?

If it took another drop left like that even with filler in the hole surely it risk becoming punctured and potentially exploding?

How much is a new tank or external cover.

kwak zzr
10-10-07, 02:24 PM
tanks are hard to come by but sv spares advertize £30 - £150 depending on condition.

Kwak - forget about the fairing - just find some decent lights (pair of Bates should the trick) & some form of 'clock' & you'll have a GREAT cafe racer SV !!

BTW - WTF ??? Standard cans ???!!!!!!

You should be ashamed of yourself - get yourself a nice pair of alloys - they polish up great !! :thumright:

Urgh, I had a nightmare with breakers, they seem to think that so long as they have "roughly" the right part, they just slop it in a bag and send it to you. As if you will just bolt on any old thing to your bike. I got sent 2 different wrong rearsets, I ended up buying one new :(

What happens when it comes to insuring it/re-sale if it's a cat c, not really up on all this kind of thing! As you may be able to tell, I'm quite interested ;)

a bike shop by law has to tell a buyer if a bike is cat c/ cat d but a private sale is different its up to the buyer to do his/her own checks if the seller doesn't want to inform the buyer, personally this is cr@p i couldn't and wouldn't sell a bike to someone trying to hide the fact that it had been in an accident ive been there it was done to me with one of my zzr6's. all a bike requires is a new mot when its been fixed but if the buyer wanted a independent inspection then thats fine too but at the buyers cost.

i get what you mean, i couldn't not tell someone about that kind of thing either. I'm assuming you have to tell insurance co if you insure a cat c bike and that the re-sale value would be less???

25-10-07, 05:41 PM
i know ppl who have and havent told them, some like to know as you say because of the value but others arnt botherd.

kwak zzr

was watching a programme on sky today called "wrecks to riches" all about buying cat C/D cars and putting them right for a profit.

kwak zzr
25-10-07, 05:56 PM
as long as the buyer knows the history of the bike/car you can get a bargain which has already lost its depreciation,if i sell my sv1000s for the £1700 mark the buyers got a good bike for years and will still sell for close to what he/she paid for it when he/she comes to sell, problems come when like me you buy a bike at market value and then it turns out to be cat c and i lost £1000:( the chap i sold my zzr to i still see at the stormy petrel, hes had it for 3 years now and its never caused him any problems he loves it:) and 3 years ago he only paid me £1400. I'm glad he got a bargain.

Daz it is worth so much more than £1650 or whatever you wanted for it, do yourself justice!

In fact, I'd offer you mine plus some cash if I didn't think that my bike is too scruffy for you :( It has character though!

kwak zzr
31-10-07, 10:58 AM
this is why my wife said keep it, on a cat c its prob worth about £2200 and if i sell it i would have a job finding such a clean bike for the same money, the bike itself only owes me about 1400-1500 ish so its a cheap bike if i keep it and it'll never depreciate.
there was one sold on ebay last week (cat c) on buy it now for £1800 and that one was errr messy, take a look -
