Now I have my "new" SV (curvy N '99, I crashed my previous) I want to replace my R1 front end from the SVS to the new SVN. But I have seen this will not be a common thing.
First of all I will need new brackets to attach the head light to the forks because the diameter of the R1 leggs is slightly larger than the OEM forks (54mm). But this is not the biggest problem, bike-design.com has some nice ones for sale.
A more larger problem is to attach the display. Stock it is attached to the upper yoke, but as my gsxr yoke hasn't got those holes (and I am not planning to make new ones into it) I will have to look for a solution. Anyone can think of one of maybee has experience in this?
Thanks in advance.

If I was going to do this to mine, then I would go about it in a very similar way to the headlight mounting, but just butcher another couple of those mounting rings.
Or alternatively just drill and tap some holes, or even get some little lugs TIG'd onto it, a guy I know would more than likely do it for a fiver.
I doubt this would cause any problem
As another note theres a headlight stay bracket bolted to the bottom yoke, don't worry about this the light stays where its put so long as the bolts on the side with the rubbers are fairly tight.

I could also find a second yoke and mess that one up, but that will be more expencive I think.
Thanks for the note, but on the bottom yoke there is a hole to screw a bolt on and I was thinking of making a little plate to mount the headlightsupporter on.
Anyway thanks for the thoughts!
Anyone done this mod by coincidence?

Nobody has done this befor? So I will be the first one I guess. Cool. I'll post my thoughts about it later.
Cheers.
Got SRAD 750 Forks on mine,
For the clock mounting I decided to mount them the clocks directly yo the back of the headlight!
Depends what haedlights your running though. If you clocks are small and light then you can be more inventive with your ideas I reckon,

Nice solution! I can see you have different clocks and lights, looks good! Which clocks are it and did you have a lot of trouble connecting them?
Nice bike.
They're made by KOSO, its the RX1N Model I think,
The simple functions (like oil pressure, indicators, Neutral, Full beam, etc) wired up really easy! Only took about half an hour with a SV650 Wiring Diagram.
I'm currently left trying to figure out the rev counter, speedo and the low fuel indicator. These functions are quite important - but for now the bike runs and I just keep topping up the fuel.
I thought about mounting them on the top yoke but I wouldn't have sat correctly. They would've stuck out too far,
This pic shows how they sit in relation to the handle bars - I think it was the best place to mount such a small clock!

Thanks for the comment, bike is still a work in progress 8)
Can you believe I've ridden it maybe 25 miles this year!! :smt103
P.s. -What colour heelplates do you think, Black or polished? Or maybe a mix of both?
Can you post a pic of what you have so far? The way I see it, its not really a streetfighter unless you have to do some fabrication to get things to fit!!
Did you display come with mounts? (Or is it the stock one you wanted to use?)

Currently my bike is still stock (pics here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=98260 ). As I need it almost every day (to ride to school) I want to do the conversion (front-end + lights and clocks) in one weekend. I already have some brackets to attach the light, but nothing to attach the clocks. I also want to keep the clipons, otherwise it would be an easy job to mount the clocks because I will have to drill holes for the steer so there's no pain anymore in drilling holes (or welding something) into the upper yoke for the clocks. If you know what I mean.
I would take the heelplates in black as I am not a chromé/polish-fan.
There is still a lot of work to do, but I'll keep you posted! ;)
I know what you mean about the drilling,
Well since you already have the headlight brackets you can mock up the whole thing before you put it onto the bike.
I warn you though - maybe you want to use two weekends, You want the clocks sit sit in a nice position - not too far out, not too low, etc so you'll have to play about with the positioning.
Have you got a pic of your bracket?
I'm thinking that you could fabricate a piece of metal that goes from the forks round to the back of the headlights to old the clocks - it's probably easier for me to draw actually - get me a picture and I'll let you know what I mean.
Do you plan to keep the standard clocks?

I'm planning (for the moment) to use the standard clocks because I want to put as soon as possible the front-end on my SV. If that fits I will look for other clocks and maybee other lights.
Here some pics of the brackets I will use, I hope you can do something with it.

Thanks for the help :thumright:
My first thoughts,
Drilling the Top yoke might be easier!!

'X' marks the spot for drilling a hol, typically where I would mounts would be.
The two in the middle could probably be done away with by welding, not sure what equipment you've got to hand.
The holes at the top would correspond to the mounting hole within the actual standard clocks. I've opened them before but have forgotten what they look mount like. Again - if you didn't want to do this you could just weld the orginal clock bracket to the 'brace' I've draw that goes behindthe main headlight.
To be honest I'm not sure if its worth the hassle of having clocks!! You could get a modified bicycle computer until you decide on something more permanent. I rode my bike with no dials for a while, I knew the bike was running well so I didn't expect any warnings...

Cheers mate! Looks a good solution.
But, this afternoon I found some time to take the clocks and light off and I think there is a pretty easy solution to my problem. The light will be mounted with the brackets, no problem and I can fix the clocks to my top yoke with just 2 small plates. As I have the SRAD-yokes there are 2 mounting screws for the clipons in it. If I lower the clipons a bit that there is enough space to mount a small plate in between, I can fix the clocks to those plates with the standard mounting-bracket of the clocks. It just fits realy tight but it should work! The only "down" part is that my clipons (they come from a TL) and the clocks will be a few mm down. The small screws (i think it are M4) will handle it because the clipons are also attached to the forks and will also take a part of the reactionforces that are cause by the clocks.
(I hope you understand the biggest part, because my English isn't verry good as you can see )
I drilled some holes in my top yoke (although it's a standard curvey "S" yoke) to mount standard "N" clocks. I can get you a couple of pics if you like?
I have one of the top yoke where you can see the bolts, they're polished stainless hex heads for now, intend to get some allen heads in due course as I reckon they'll look better.
Underneath I used a pair of steel tubes as spacers as the S yoke is hollow underneath, and that worked well. Don't know what the yoke you're using is like though?
Managed to find the picture of top yoke from the top, I don't think it looks that bad, will look better with allen head bolts anyway.

This is what I finaly did:
Made 2 small plates to fix the clocks one. The other end I've mounted in between the clipon and the top yoke. It all just fits realy thight, but it works! :) Clocks are very stable. I just need to paint the in some coulor so they will not rust.
