Hi there
Anyone driven or owns a Clio in the DCI range on the year 2001 onwards? A Mk3 i think it is.
What they are like, and is it worth getting one?
I was a fan of the Clio Mk1's, love it to bits until it blew the gasket. I'm stuck with a mega slow Citreon ZX 1.4 that likes to drink as much as a 2.0 car i used to owned......
Cheers
its french that should be all you need to know
I had one, a 2003 3 door model. It was OK - slow but OK, it did the miles from here to Ellesmere Port well, never broke down, was economical - did 60mpg if I drove at 55 - and generally did the job. But it was VERY slow, no acceleration. I think there were 2 engine versions, I had the slowie. Can't remember much more about it, as you can see it made a lasting impression.
never driven one but there are 3 versions - 65bhp, 80 & 100bhp versions. Apparently the 65 is way too slow, the 80 is the best of both worlds as it is reliable, more frugal than the 65 and quite nippy while there were teething troubles with the 100 as it was essentially the 80 engine which was tweaked further.

i looked into these as a run around but i needed something a bit bigger.
amazing fuel economy 60+mpg easy just normal driving
as said the 65 isnt very nippy so the 80 bhp version would be my choice as the dci 100's are pretty rare and have chocolate gearbox's.
best thing about them is the road tax bracket
£35 for a years road tax!!!!!!
stay away from the special edition billabong ones tho the interior is shocking
I've got a 2004 100bhp one. Goes quite well, i get a constant 57mpg even when putting my foot down. You can tell it's french as there are various rattles but if you turn the radio up they disappear :D. I don't see a problem with the gearbox (touch wood), mines as good as any other I;ve used. Mines got a few toys on (auto xenon headlights, auto wipers etc). I'm quite pleased with it so far despite havign reservations about buying a Renault!
