Bought some cheap coolant + distilled water from halfwits for a coolant change. Ok to use, or should I get something better quality?

Nah should do the trick. Distilled is always the way to go.

Cheap coolant doesn't give much in the way of corrosion inhibitors and the life is limited. Some coolants can lead to premature water pump seal wear.

FWIW I use a "ready to use" coolant from a big car manufacturer, my choice is the Toyota Red, but others do good quality stuff too, particularly some of the long life Honda or VW/Audi stuff ("G12plus" IIRC).

There's nearly as much technology in coolant as there is in oil if you want to get nerdy about it. For the amount you use in a bike the extra cost is trivial.

There's nothing particularly special about bikes regarding coolant, the materials used are pretty much the same as you'll find in any modern engine/car.

So do you think I should I chuck the stuff I just bought, or is it ok to use for a while?

Likely to be OK, maybe just plan on another change in a year or 2 at the outside. Just make it 50/50 with the distilled/deionised water and worry about something else! ;)

I've got the halfwits stuff in my triple. But thats not saying much given my level of maintenance. But it seems to work.

I use the Halfords stuff too. Ask me in 5 years if it was a good idea.
